Irish footballer (born 1981)
Raffaele Cretaro (born 15 October 1981) is an Irish footballer who plays as a striker for Conn Rangers F.C.
Cretaro is a native of Tubbercurry, Ireland.[1] He is of Italian descent.[2] As a youth player, he joined the youth academy of Irish side Real Tubber.[3]
Cretaro started his career in 2000 with Irish side Sligo Rovers. He made his goal-scoring debut for Sligo in a 3-0 win over Monaghan United at Gortakeegan on 3 September 2000.[5] In 2006, he signed for Irish First Division team Galway United.[6] In 2010, he signed for Irish side Bohemians.[7] After that, he returned to Sligo Rovers, helping them win the league.[8] Altogether, he spent seventeen years with Sligo Rovers and, on 20 August 2018,[9] Cretaro surpassed Tony Fagan as the club’s record all-time league appearance holder.[6][10] He joined Finn Harps in 2019.[11] In 2021, he retired from League of Ireland football.[12]
Cretaro mainly operates as a striker and can also operate as a midfielder and full-back.[13]
Cretaro is the brother of Irish hurler Fabio Cretaro.[14][15]
