American political podcaster and journalist

Saagar Enjeti (born April 21, 1992) is an American journalist, podcast host and political commentator currently co-hosting the American political news and opinion series Breaking Points alongside Krystal Ball. Previously he hosted The Realignment with Marshall Kosloff.

Early life and education

[edit]

Enjeti was born on April 21, 1992, to Telugu immigrants from India,[better source needed] and was raised in College Station, Texas.[1][2] His parents are Prasad Enjeti and Radhika Viruru, both professors at Texas A&M University.[3] He graduated from George Washington University in 2014 where he majored in economics and in 2018, he received a master’s in security policy from Georgetown University.[4]

Enjeti served as a media fellow for the Hudson Institute, where he co-hosted the podcast The Realignment with Marshall Kosloff.[3][4][5] He also served as a Tony Blankley fellow at the Steamboat Institute.[4][6]

Enjeti began his media career at The Daily Caller, owned by Tucker Carlson, as its White House Correspondent. According to Enjeti, he obtained the job by cold emailing someone at the outlet who tangentially knew a friend of his.[1][3][7]

He co-hosted Rising with Krystal Ball and wrote for The Hill from 2019 to 2021.[7][8][9] The pair co-wrote the book The Populist’s Guide to 2020 which focused on left and right populism in America.[3][10][11]

In 2021, Enjeti and Ball left Rising to start their own show called Breaking Points.[7][8] That show became the number one political podcast one week after launching and reached one million subscribers on YouTube in 2023.[12]

The American Conservative described Enjeti in 2020 as a “would-be, millennial Tucker Carlson.”

Enjeti has expressed economic nationalist and economic populist views and has criticized free trade and libertarianism and large corporations.[13][14][15]

Enjeti supports non-interventionism and has generally expressed opposition to foreign interventions by the United States and the military–industrial complex.[16][17][18] He has generally criticized U.S. and Israeli foreign policy in the Gaza war and has generally criticized United States support for Israel in the Gaza war.[19] He has also been express criticism of the western approach and U.S. involvement in the Russo-Ukrainian War.[20][21][22]

Enjeti married Jill McGrath in July 2023, with an initial wedding ceremony in India, and another wedding ceremony in Rhode Island.[23] Their daughter was born in 2025.[citation needed] Enjeti is an atheist.[24]
