Palestinian journalist, media personality, and content creator
Saleh Amer Fouad Al-Jafarawi (22 November 1997 – 12 October 2025) was a Palestinian journalist, social media influencer and table tennis player, who became prominent during the genocide war against the Gaza Strip between 2023 and 2025.[1][2][3][4]
Biography
al-Jafarawi was born in 1997 in the Gaza Governorate. He received his schooling in the city and earned a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and media from the Islamic University of Gaza in 2019.
He began his professional career as a freelance journalist and photographer in 2019,[5] and became well known for his field coverage of the Israeli assault on Gaza in 2023. He emerged as a media symbol of resistance, capturing scenes of destruction and human suffering through his lens, earning millions of views across social media platforms. Despite receiving direct threats from the Israeli occupation authorities due to his media activities, he continued his work, becoming known for his emotionally powerful style and documentation of the most difficult moments from the heart of events.[6][7]
His videos accumulated millions of views on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube during the genocide war on the Gaza Strip, making him a target of Israeli incitement. One of his videos surpassed 51 million views, while others exceeded 30 million. Hebrew media outlets attempted to defame him, describing him as someone who “exploits tragedies for fame,” but Arab and international audiences regarded him as a fearless journalist who silenced the occupation’s camera and exposed its crimes.[8]
He helped raise more than two million dollars in six hours through a popular campaign to rebuild the Al-Nasr Children’s Hospital in the Gaza Strip.
Assassination
On 12 October 2025, al-Jafarawi was shot and killed by Doghmush clan members amid clashes with Hamas in Gaza City.[9]
