American actress
Skye P. Marshall is an American film and television actress. She is best known for playing Olympia Lawrence in the critically acclaimed CBS legal drama Matlock (2024-present)[1], for which she was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award and a Gotham Award. Marshall previously played Kara Fowdy on Black Lightning (2018), Mambo Marie on the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2020), and Dr Lex Trulie on the CBS medical drama Good Sam (2022)[2].
Early life
Marshall was born and raised in Chicago, and attended Northeastern Illinois University. She served in the United States Air Force and after completing her service, worked a corporate job in New York City while training at Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Broadway Dance Center. She later moved to Los Angeles in pursuit of an acting career.[3][4]
Career
Marshall appeared as Towanda Braxton in the 2016 musical biopic Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart.[5] That year she appeared alongside Josh Duhamel, Al Pacino and Sir Anthony Hopkins in the thriller Misconduct.[6] She had a recurring role on ABC series The Fix.[7]
She had roles in NCIS and Grey’s Anatomy prior to appearing in the 2018 war drama film Indivisible.[3] Her television credits also include Black Lightning and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.[8] In 2021, she joined the cast of family medical drama Good Sam alongside Jason Isaacs.[9]
In 2022, she shot the dark comedy film Coup! with Peter Sarsgaard, Billy Magnussen and Sarah Gadon.[10] In 2023, she appeared in Qasim Basir‘s semi autobiographical film To Live and Die and Live.[11] That year, she joined the cast of a pilot for legal drama series of Matlock, with Kathy Bates in the title role.[12] The project was commissioned for a series, broadcast on CBS from September 22, 2024.[13] She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 30th Critics’ Choice Awards in February 2025.[14]
Personal life
Marshall married fellow actor Edwin Hodge on June 29, 2024 at Carondelet House in Los Angeles.[15] Hodge’s brother, actor Aldis Hodge officiated at the ceremony.
