English association football player (born 2008)

Stephen Mfuni (born 12 February 2008) is an English professional footballer who plays as a left-sided defender for Manchester City.[1]

He was born in Wigan.[2] Capable of playing left back or centre half, he played in tne Manchester City FA Youth Cup in 2024. He featured for the Manchester City first team in their pre season tour of North America in 2024. That year, he was included in The Guardian’s Next Generation 2024: 20 of the best talents at Premier League clubs series in October 2024.[3]

International career

Born in England, Mfuni is of DR Congolese descent.[4] He is an England youth international. Having represented England at U16 and U17 level, Mfuni made his U19 debut during a 2-0 win over Ukraine at Pinatar Arena on 3 September 2025.[5]

Mfuni plays as a defender. Left-footed, he is known for his strength and aerial ability.[6]
