Revision as of 16:41, 1 November 2025

I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: Well written article

Feel like I should open this talk page section up since it’ll be the most edited section in the article until the tournament starts. Under the new format, the way players qualified and the way players will be seeded is different, which certainly makes things more complicated than before. If we were to list out all the qualifiers in the style of previous years I think there should be three columns for each different qualification route: the main OOM, the pro tour OOM and the international qualifiers (since that’s how players qualified; I’d also like to know if we’re keeping the full international qualifiers table). However, this would in turn exacerbate the need to explain the new seeding system thoroughly, with 32/40 of the main OOM qualifiers seeded in the first round, and the next 32 players inserted into the left hand side of the draw being split between the main OOM and the pro tour OOM. To make things even more complicated, under my interpretation of the new qualification rules, if someone like Florian Hempel were to qualify via the TCH qualifier, he would be on the left hand side of the draw due to his OOM ranking.

I’d like to get other editors’ thoughts on this. Tagging @DartsF4 and @OZOO as the most recent editors, plus anyone else who wants to discuss Greenflipper (talk) 17:14, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

My thoughts are that it’s better not having to explain the new seeding system thoroughly. However some readers may be confused by what ‘randomly drawn into the left hand side of the draw’ means. I think over explaining things might make the whole thing go over a reader’s head.
Indeed if Hempel or Owen or Burton or Williams or Slevin etc. qualify for the Slam and reach the top 40 through a run there, or qualify via the PDPA qualifier, they may move over to the left hand side of the draw. DartsF4 (talk) 17:23, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
“I’d also like to know if we’re keeping the full international qualifiers table” if you’re wanting to simplify it and condense it, a link should be made to the table in 2025 in PDC DartsF4 (talk) 17:25, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What we want to order the Pro Tour qualifiers outside the top 40 is up for discussion
But I think it’s important to have the Pro Tour qualifiers inside the top 64 and outside separated. So no Sedlacek above Ricky Evans DartsF4 (talk) 17:28, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking of moving this international qualifiers to the dodgy one we have on the 2025 in PDC page but I worry about all the templates used on that page, would probably need to condense some of the other sections that link to other tournament articles.
I guess it’s fine to have the Pro Tour separated, I just worry for the congestion of the columns if we’re adding a fourth for international qualifiers. Greenflipper (talk) 17:36, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest I don’t think we need the Secondary Tour tables there, or the Women’s World Matchplay bracket. They’re in their own pages. We don’t have World Youth there because we’re working on that draft. DartsF4 (talk) 17:40, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think keeping the table is a better option than a 4th column for international qualifiers DartsF4 (talk) 17:41, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The more I look at the article, the more confusing I think the section is. I really think the qualification section should strictly follow the order of the respective Orders of Merit, and then how the caveats about the draw should be explained at the top of the Draw section that will be added. Greenflipper (talk) 12:52, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So you want
Top 40 in OOM Order
Top 40 in PT Order
Yes? DartsF4 (talk) 15:49, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Preferably, but I would like others’ thoughts Greenflipper (talk) 15:51, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
