It is obvious at this point that the bombing not only took place on Caracas but on other urban areas such as La Guaira and Higuerote, which are located in the coastline of the country. Furthermore, there hasn’t been reported bombings in inner-sectors such as Los Teques or El Hatillo, which are arguably close to Caracas. Liett73 (talk) 07:26, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I would propose a move, but it’s too early for now. Ahri Boy (talk) 07:29, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The cause of the explosions is unknown and the government hasn’t commented yet. Wait until conformation. I do agree it is most likely strikes, but the cause is reportedly unknown. Bloxzge 025 (talk) 07:31, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Bro I’m literally here in Caracas, I still wonder how I have wired connection, but they are indeed strikes. Liett73 (talk) 07:34, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldnt be using the talk page for something like this, but I hope you are you okay. JaxsonR (talk) 07:38, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever. Liett73 (talk) 08:13, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Liett73 I’m sorry I kinda worded that wrong. I was referring to my message being wrong! JaxsonR (talk) 08:57, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Why not call it the “US invasion of Venezuela 2026” if there will confirmation of the landing of ground troops (for example, landing from helicopters)? At least, everything points to a large-scale military operation. AlexeyKhrulev (talk) 07:32, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe if everything escalates to that, not exactly that title, but most likely there will be no more US intervention like this. Liett73 (talk) 07:36, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
WP:TOOSOON to tell JaxsonR (talk) 07:38, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a crystal ball and we cannot include any rumors or speculative content that has not been verified by reliable sources. Cullen328 (talk) 07:39, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
CBS is reporting U.S. special forces’ boots on the ground to secure military facilities, and Maduro has issued a state of emergency. It’s fair to say it’s an invasion. dom 07:42, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please link a source? Best, Staraction (talk · contribs) 07:47, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

You’re right sorry.[1][2] dom 07:50, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Well if thats the case id consider 2026 Caracas clashes JaxsonR (talk) 07:54, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree that any mention of “bombing” or American involvement should be added until a reliable source can be included to support such coverage. Staraction (talk · contribs) 07:40, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I absolutely agree. This shouldn’t even be up for debate. KeysofDreams (talk) 07:56, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It was almost certainly America who is responsible for the bombings, but it’s still WP:TOOSOON in my opinion, although that will definitely change very quickly. I have no objections if sourced. GrandDuchyConti 💜(talk) 08:01, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Yusuf Michael please stop changing the name when it isn’t confirmed. Bloxzge 025 (talk) 08:16, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

It’s pretty much certain who was responsible. https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/venezuela-us-military-strikes-maduro-trump/ Yusuf Michael (talk) 08:17, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, that is CBS News, not the president. There is still NO official statement released by both the White House and Trump himself. Bloxzge 025 (talk) 08:21, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The source says this: “President Trump ordered strikes on sites inside Venezuela, including military facilities, U.S. officials told CBS News” JaxsonR (talk) 08:22, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I meant Truth Social and [1]. Also, how can we know that is confirmed? Bloxzge 025 (talk) 08:25, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

It’s a realiable source, why wouldnt it? JaxsonR (talk) 08:28, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

And the government is more reliable. All I would say right now is that it is most likely true, but no statement has been released. Bloxzge 025 (talk) 08:37, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a government press office. Per WP:PRIMARY, official statements are actually less preferred than independent, secondary reporting. Since multiple reliable sources (including CBS and Fox News)[2][3] have confirmed the event, waiting for a confirmation from the subject would violate WP:NPOV by giving the government’s silence undue weight over verified reporting. Wxllow (talk) 08:50, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Wxllow Fox News is actually not a WP:RS. See WP:FOXNEWS JaxsonR (talk) 08:51, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Oops. Thanks for correcting me on that, my apologies! Wxllow (talk) 08:54, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Reuters has also confirmed it[4] Wxllow (talk) 09:00, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Wall Street Journal is reporting confirmation of U.S. involvement as well.[3]Jamie Eilat (talk) 09:05, 3 January 2026 (UTC) Jamie Eilat (talk) 09:05, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my god… Trump just confirmed the strike AND that they CAPTURED MADURO!? Bloxzge 025 (talk) 09:30, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
There should be an article, if it escalates into a proper armed conflict, on this bombing, and the general war. AverageCheeseRoll (talk) 08:20, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. AverageCheeseRoll (talk) 08:44, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

So, only one report reported allegations of U.S. involvement. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/1/3/explosions-heard-over-venezuelan-capital-caracas-amid-us-tensions

Until more sources are out, please don’t add for now. Ahri Boy (talk) 07:27, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

U.S. is involved.[1] dom 07:48, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

thought so. i was gonna point out that in multiple videos of the strikes (and of videos with helicopters flying overhead) you can see the aircraft- looks to be Mh-47 chinooks + SOAR. ~2026-44512 (talk) 07:52, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Gonna add the infobox now Ahri Boy (talk) 07:53, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

If it’s not the U.S, who else would it be? [joking] Yusuf Michael (talk) 07:54, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Could be Venezuelan opposition and the CIA. Ahri Boy (talk) 07:58, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Considering the fact that there’s a U.S balloon and plane right off of the coast of Venezula on the flight radar, I think it’s safe to say that it was def the U.S, Trump’s been talking about this forever https://www.flightradar24.com/3dc09fa9 Yusuf Michael (talk) 07:59, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
That is CBS News. The US government has still not released a statement. I would wait. Bloxzge 025 (talk) 08:14, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Are you naive, or a bad actor? This is Wikipedia, not a government press office. Independent reporting is preferred to government sources. ~2026-34829 (talk) 09:31, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

It’s almost certain that the United States is involved

What should the name of the article be?

– 2026 American Attacks on Caracas, Venezuela?

@Yusuf Michael: please try and seek some sort of consensus before moving the page, per WP:RMUM. Best, Staraction (talk · contribs) 08:17, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, first time moving a page. Yusuf Michael (talk) 08:18, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

What would a good name be for right now? Yusuf Michael (talk) 08:18, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Let’s keep it the way it is for now, until it stabilizes (at least a bit). Then, when the time is right (based on the coverage in the article, consensus of reliable sources), a requested move can be opened. Otherwise, if the page is constantly moved, editors will have a hard time updating information and readers will have a hard time finding a consistent place for information. Thanks, Staraction (talk · contribs) 08:20, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
If it escalates, then this will be split off into the war. For now, this is good. AverageCheeseRoll (talk) 08:23, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t think we can really even think about moving the page until the page is protected due to vandalism. Raskuly (talk) 08:39, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

My prayer was almost immediately answered, but I concur with Staraction that we just need to wait a little longer. Raskuly (talk) 08:40, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Please also read MOS:AT. Raskuly (talk) 08:19, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I think 2026 Venezuelan explosions is good for now as that is what it is thus far. I myself am certain that it was a US strike (my social media is evidence of my views enough) but unless we get a more concrete statement from either Caracas or Washington, it’s too soon for the article title to assume culpability. DaisyGeekyTransGirl (talk) 08:20, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I mistakenly moved it to “2026 Venezuelan explosions” instead of the original title of “2026 Venezuela explosions”. Raskuly (talk) 08:24, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Evaporation123 Please take a look at this thread as well. Staraction (talk · contribs) 08:31, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Ecrusized: Engage in the requested move instead. Raskuly (talk) 09:12, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I have, I did not notice there was discussion to move the page since there was no template in the article. Ecrusized (talk) 09:15, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Tofusaurus: What could’ve possibly motivated you to move it to 2026 United States Fascist Imperialist War of Aggression Against the Venezuelan People’s Bolivarian Republic? Raskuly (talk) 09:18, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Can we fix this? Yusuf Michael (talk) 08:38, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Please leave it alone until a consensus has been reached, as you’ve been asked to do many times now by multiple editors. You’re engaging in disruptive editing. Okashikunaitalk 08:41, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I’m not the one changing it, this is an inconsistency Yusuf Michael (talk) 08:42, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Poopeater68549 (talk) 08:40, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: it’s not clear what changes you want made. Please detail the specific changes in a “change X to Y” format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Raskuly (talk) 08:41, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

let me do somethng bro

2026 Venezuelan explosions2026 American strikes on Venezuela2026 American strikes on Venezuela – It has been confirmed that the United States is the one carrying out the strikes, per https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/venezuela-us-military-strikes-maduro-trump/ and https://www.france24.com/en/americas/20260103-live-venezuela-declares-state-of-emergency-after-reported-us-military-aggression Evaporation123 (talk) 08:42, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Agree to a speedy move per nom. The page name must be changed immediately, without a 7-day wait.  PLATEL  (talk) 08:45, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I have also proposed 2026 United States airstrikes on Venezuela. There are 2 RMS open at once. Servite et contribuere (talk) 08:46, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose: Wait until officially confirmed as anonymous government official(s) at this point does not seem to be good enough evidence. Additionally, similar articles do not use “American” in the title. Raskuly (talk) 08:50, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support 2026 “United States” or “US” attacks on Venezuela.
A$ianeditorz (talk) 09:02, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Support but possibly changing “American” with “United States”. The sources that mention the United States as the striker are reputable. Dead3y3 (talk) 09:09, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Support move with “United States” as per above. —MtPenguinMonster (talk) 09:14, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Support “2026 United States strikes in Venezuela” (not on, per similar article titles such as 2025 United States strikes in Nigeria), but the page could be moved again due to unconfirmed reports of other types of military action. As stated before, “American” is not how articles like these are titled. Raskuly (talk) 09:07, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Comment it appears there is overwhelming support to changing the article title, and I have noticed the article has already been renamed to 2026 United States strikes in Venezuela. I wonder if this RM should be closed in favour of the new title? Carolina2k22(talk) 10:23, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t think this is a clear enough case for a WP:SNOW close, especially with the emerging discussion about renaming it to something akin to “Capture of Nicolas Maduro”. Kind Regards Squawk7700 (talk) 10:26, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I think that in that case, it might be more appropriate to close this now per WP:SNOW, given the current overwhelming support for it, and allowing for a separate move request once more information comes out. Carolina2k22(talk) 10:30, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

United States Government Trump Administration Officials have confirmed that the United States Military is Attacking Venezuela. ~2026-44887 (talk) 08:44, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:NOYEAR, particularly month or days should not be used in the title unless other descriptors are insufficient to establish the identity of the incident. Raskuly (talk) 08:56, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion above is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer’s talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Procedural close. Only one move request should be open at a time, see above. Fuzheado | Talk 08:57, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

2026 Venezuelan explosions2026 United States airstrikes on Venezuela2026 United States airstrikes on Venezuela – It appears United States President Donald Trump ordered these strikes. (And “United States” is a proper term rather than “American”). Sources regarding this conflict: [5], [6], [7], [8]. If anyone can suggest other titles, and find new sources, that would be helpful. Can also be changed to January 2026 United States airstrikes on Venezuela if further disambiguation is needed. Servite et contribuere (talk) 08:44, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Support per initial sources. So it is really the U.S. did the explosions. Ahri Boy (talk) 08:46, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose: Wait until officially confirmed as anonymous government official(s) at this point does not seem to be good enough evidence. Additionally, similar articles use the word “in” rather than “on”, such as 2025 United States strikes in Nigeria. Raskuly (talk) 08:52, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support I wonder if this will result in a bigger article like “US-Venezuela conflict”
IsaacPuente (talk) 08:53, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Support: As currently is Explosions in the title omits the perpetrator. The United States (US) should therefore be included in the title. Lf8u2 (talk) 08:59, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion above is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

There’s a few Roblox communities going around vandalizing these and related pages (Operation Southern Spear, United States–Venezuela conflict). Just an FYI as I’m seeing it myself. Noorullah (talk) 08:50, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

There is a lot of editing back and forth between using the infobox military operation or Infobox civilian attack. I feel the military operation is more fitting but I think it’s better if we come to a consensus on which to use. dom 09:08, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox military operation as it is well, a military operation of some sort. Raskuly (talk) 09:22, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Support changing to above. It is indeed a military operation and not a civilian one. Ahri Boy (talk) 09:28, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Support the use of the military operation infobox. Both the Venezuelan government side and the US government side have acknowledged this as an operation of the US and jets being used and reported by witnesses in reputable sources makes it military. There’s no point in fighting to use the civilian attack infobox anymore. Dead3y3 (talk) 09:37, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone please change this to having occurred at 9:21 AM UTC so as to not have the confusion between differing timezones? I’d do it myself, but the page is being edited so quickly that I keep getting into edit conflicts AutisticYapper (talk) 09:35, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

the 5:21 Venezuela standard time that is currently in place also works AutisticYapper (talk) 09:36, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Have there been any reports of any casualties or victims of the strikes? There’s plenty of sources detailing the targets but I can’t find information on possible deaths related to the strike. If information emerges, should this information be added to the article? AnuraMS (talk) 10:27, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

In late October, President Trump deployed the Night Stalkers to Venezuela. It is highly likely they were involved. Should this be included with the Southern Spear/deployment background?

Sources: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/oct/22/us-night-stalkers-caribbean-fears-regime-change-venezuela-nicolas-maduro

Giwaa (talk) 10:29, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The most recent pagemove was performed under the impression that the US had performed no significant actions beyond bombing Venezuela. This is likely to have changed. In the near future, I dare wager that we will have reliable sources reporting that Maduro was captured in the operation. Perhaps this is premature, but what should the title be when that time comes?
