So one of the radical house member characters in Lincoln is “Asa Vintner Litton,” a radical lame duck congressman from Maryland. There was of course no “Asa Vintner Litton,” but it seems like he’s probably based on Davis, in that his biography and role are basically the same. I assume they probably changed his name so as not to confuse people with a character named “Davis” who is not Jefferson Davis.
