[[:List of elected and appointed female state leaders]] → {{no redirect|List of female state leaders}} – The disambiguation “elected and appointed” is not useful for the purpose of describing the contents of this article. The distinction between being elected or being appointed does not make any head of state or government differ in legitimacy. I can only see that we might use the current title if there is some type of elevation to the position of a head of government or a head of state by some method other than election or appointment. This would be a lot more [[WP:CONCISE]] and the distinction should be mentioned within the article instead of using an unnecessary disambiguation. == Merge proposal ==

Hi there,

I have added a proposal to this page to merge parts of the article [[List of female constituent and dependent territory leaders]] into this one. It does not seem accurate to use the word “state” in this title while also excluding leaders of states and including them in an article which does not accurately describe their region properly.

If the article is to be kept as is, then we should change the title and some of the wording in the article to reflect that only leaders of ”’countries”’ are included here.

Thanks for your consideration, [[User:Qwerty123M|Qwerty123M]] ([[User talk:Qwerty123M|talk]]) 07:18, 9 February 2026 (UTC)

You should add the Prime Ministers of Uganda, Mozambique, and Sri Lanka, who are all women.

They are not heads of government, rather they are deputy heads of government because the Presidents of the respective countries function both as head of state and government. Those leaders are included in the List of elected and appointed female deputy heads of government. Oritsu.me (talk) 04:44, 22 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
