• There is a commonly used monosyllabic English-language word “male” that is pronounced the same way as “mail”. If Malē were written “Male”, English-speaking readers would assume that it was pronounced the same way as “male” and “mail”. Writing it as, “Malē” helps the reader to understand that the pronunciation is completely different from “male”; Malē is bisyllabic.-Baangla (talk) 13:03, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Toddy1: You must only revert edits that introduced macrons if you feel it is unacceptable. Please also discuss why macrons are unacceptable, as I believe they help the reader to understand the pronunciation correctly.
