I have been thinking of this article for a while (lidičky, já mám rád pívo, after all :-). But I still cannot figure out heads and tails here. May be someone else. And probably the article is to be split in two.- Altenmann >t 07:21, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
The following text was repeatedly removed:

with the argument:
- translation of band names is unnecessary and nonstandard, and besides, the provided reference is not searchable, so it is subpar
In Wikipedia we routinely translate non-English titles Lõõtsavägilased, Kipparikvartetti, Rozmowy ze Stanisławem Lemem Wydawnictwo Literackie, to name very few. Yes in many cases we do not. But in this case it is not simply a translation, it is an ‘explanation: you will not find the word ‘Šlapeto’ in dictionaries. However I found a reference. Of course it is “nonstandard”, because, as I said, there is no such word. I fail to understand the argument “reference is not searchable”. I provided the link to the page which clearly writes what I wrote. The author in the reference thought the word deserves explanation, so did I.
Now, why do you think the word does not deserve an explanation in non-Czeh Wikipedia? —Altenmann >talk 17:19, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- Altenmann, thanks for bringing this here. My first argument is that it is not typical to translate band name titles into English. If you can show me a solid precedent (not just a handful of examples) or a WP policy on the subject, I’ll be happy to change my mind on the issue.
