Regarding ambiguity, going by usage in the English-speaking online world, it would seem that the Thai meaning is the primary topic for T-pop nowadays. A Google News search turns up plenty of results from major media outlets that all mention T-pop in the Thai context, and none about Taiwan or Turkey. See for example The Economist[https://www.economist.com/culture/2025/02/06/fans-are-going-crazy-for-thai-television-shows-and-music], The Korea Herald[https://www.koreaherald.com/article/10570100][https://www.koreaherald.com/article/10566070], Nikkei Asia[https://asia.nikkei.com/spotlight/datawatch/southeast-asia-s-homegrown-pop-music-surges-in-popularity][https://asia.nikkei.com/business/travel-leisure/thai-festivals-dazzle-japan-with-street-food-t-pop-and-fashion][https://asia.nikkei.com/life-arts/arts/thai-songs-chase-k-pop-to-become-asia-s-next-big-hit], Reuters[https://www.reuters.com/article/lifestyle/k-pop-how-about-t-pop-thai-artists-shoot-for-global-audience-idUSKBN28S2EB/], South China Morning Post[https://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/entertainment/article/3127593/thai-and-vietnamese-pop-music-surging-across-asia-these-are], Rolling Stone[https://www.rollingstone.com/pro/news/universal-music-group-thai-pop-lyra-iam-1073438/] and Music Week[https://www.musicweek.com/labels/read/universal-music-thailand-partners-with-hype-train-to-export-t-pop-talent-globally/086158]. • Oppose This is a situation where WikiNav is called for. Using it, I can see that 75% of the outgoing pageviews are going to Thai pop and 25% to Taiwanese pop. This is higher than the others, but I wouldn’t call it definitive and it shows that a large subset of people will be WP:SURPRISEd if sent to Thai pop. I’d have to oppose this as not helping readers. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 10:50, 5 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • I feel like a better discussion is if Thai pop music should be moved here, similar to K-pop. It seems like our article treats Thai pop as the primary name so perhaps the category should be move there. Weak oppose for now based on the data ZXCVBNM shared and the overall page views for Thai op and Taiwan pop (The latter has more but seems to be less commonly referred to as T-pop). (Disclosure: I had read this RM earlier, didn’t contribute, and have since received a talk page notice that it’s similar to another RM I contributed to, so I’m back).
