This Is Where the Serpent Lives is a Pakistani coming of age novel written by Daniyal Mueenuddin. The story follows Yazid, a chauffer, from his childhood as an illiterate orphan. Ambitious and astute, as he matures he quickly learns to read. Because he is smart, cheerful, and tells great stories, he has made many friends over the years, including people in high social circles. It was published by Alfred A. Knopf on January 13, 2026[1][2][3]
