I didn’t want to distract the discussion too much at WT:NFL, so I’m bringing it over here. Yes, NSPORT is pretty pointless nowadays. I know you already know, but there was a discussion proving that every NBA player ever passes GNG but it still wasn’t enough to reinstate the guideline. All good faith was provably thrown out the window at that point.

!Voters aren’t allowed to cite NSPORT to keep anything. If they do, people will still demand SIGCOV. However, delete !voters don’t even get in trouble for citing the current guidelines in order to delete articles.

After NSPORTS2022 removed the participation criteria, a lot of sports now have these ridiculously high “standards”. NBASE used to only say Hall of Famers are notable (before it finally got put out of its misery). See my comment at WT:NSPORT about the current MMA guideline. Also, the previously noted Gretzky “failing” NHOCKEY conundrum. After the NHL participation criteria was removed, all that’s left is the top 10 statistical stuff for the minor hockey leagues. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 16:48, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Rikster2: The way that MOS:TIES and MOS:DATETIES is worded gives weight to the English variant a subject has ties to, For someone like Jokic, English is not an official language of his home country. It’s a pretty weird coincidence that we merged the infoboxes right when the CFL announced massive rule and field changes…. Maybe we should have just named the infobox American football biography. CFL is trying to be NFL lite and it looks likes no one likes it.
