Thank you for uploading flags and stamps for a bunch of New Hampshire counties recently! TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 23:03, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You’re very welcome! Are you from the area? Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 00:02, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all, I’m speaking to you from quite the other side of the country, as you can see from my user page. However, work of this kind on Wikipedia tends to fly under the radar of other editors and go largely unappreciated, and I wanted to change that! I hope you stick around and help build the project’s coverage of your localities. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 00:09, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That’s so nice to hear, I needed a boost in self-esteem lol. Much appreciated!! Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 00:12, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I’m actually working on the New Hampshire seals as we speak. I’ve been going alphabetically and right now I’m on the L’s. Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 00:13, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What are you talking about, is the town homepage not good enough?? That’s where I got the seal.

Oh wait you’re talking about something else, nvm. Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 22:29, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not mangle the infoboxes of community articles. • SbmeirowTalk14:55, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What are you talking about?? Please be more specific. Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 16:14, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
May you need to look at your edit differences, such as (example). • SbmeirowTalk17:32, 30 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I’m a novice, I didn’t realize I was messing things up. But please at least don’t remove the edits I made with the additions of seals/logos/flags. Also I have a question, what’s the point of those things that say like <—-Area!—–> in the infoboxes sometimes? Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 17:38, 30 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I’m still confused, please explain Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 17:41, 30 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Sbmeirow, @Diolaneiuma215: I personally wouldn’t call it mangling. I think it’s an issue with VisualEditor where it rearranges the infoboxes. With Diolane being a new editor, he most likely is using the visual editor instead of the source editor. The diff that you provided, Steve, shows no information being changed except the infobox be rearranged. I may be wrong but oh well. Cowboygilbert (talk) ♥ 18:04, 30 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Cowboygilbert: You’re right, I was just about to comment this. I tried to make the same edit on Cavalier, North Dakota, simply adding the logo in visual editor, and when checking the wikitext “Review your changes” it was the same as Diolaneiuma215’s edit. It doesn’t create any problems for the actual parsed infobox, though it does re-order the fields for some reason. Best, Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 18:06, 30 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I added the logo, blank emblem name, and blank emblem size. Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 18:13, 30 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for updating many towns and cities logos, info and other things, keep up the good work

When naming new articles on townships, like those you made for North Dakota, you don’t need to include the county unless it is necessary to disambiguate that township from one of the same name in a different county of the same state. Best, ~ Pbritti (talk) 03:53, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t, it does that automatically and I’m not able to change the title to omit the county. Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 04:08, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There should be nothing preventing you from creating an article with the correct title. I presume you are just clicking the red links in the templates at the bottom of the articles, right? If that is the case, simply type the name into the search bar without the county in it (eg “Jimbo Township, Jimbo County, North Dakota“→”Jimbo Township, North Dakota“). You’ll hit a “no pages found” page but it will give you the option to start the article with that name. Best, ~ Pbritti (talk) 04:13, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Ohhhhh, thanks! Yeah I was clicking the red links in the templates… sorry haha I’m new to making pages Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 04:15, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No, no! Don’t apologize—there’s a learning curve and you’re charging ahead in an impressive manner. Catching a pointer or two is part of the process here! Let me know if you hit a technical snag or need advice on something, but it looks like you’ve got the process down pretty well. If you intend on filling out the rest of the townships in North Dakota, you are a perfect candidate for the Autopatrolled permission, while means your articles will almost immediately show up on Google searches. Otherwise, someone like me with the NPP right has to come by and tag your page as good to go. Excellent work, have fun! Best, ~ Pbritti (talk) 04:23, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I do have a question. I’m about to begin working on the townships in Burleigh County this time, and the 3 township pages that already exist have the county in their name. Should I also keep the county name in the titles for consistency? Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 04:27, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No, it’s almost always best to go for what is the correct pattern of article name. In this case, the shortest that is unique is the best, so a county is only included when multiple townships share a name in the same state. I will swing by those three articles with the county in their names and move them (something I think you can technically do, too, but it might be something a tad more technical than you seem confident about). I’ll keep an eye on your new creations and assist with comments if I see the need to. Otherwise, happy editing! ~ Pbritti (talk) 04:36, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I got a new question — When making a new settlement page, including for townships, am I supposed to put in the coordinates manually or does Wikipedia add them automatically? Because I’ve been adding them manually by finding each township’s centerpoint on Google Maps. Diolaneiuma215 (talk) 17:34, 24 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You mistakenly inserted mention of “Kent Lakes” as a particular place in the article on Kent, New York.
“Kent Lakes” is actually a designation authorized by the United States Postal Service for anywhere in town that gets its mail from the Carmel (ZIP 10512) post office (which serves more of the Town of Kent than it does of the Town of Carmel)…the outcome of longtime pressure for our own addresses despite our not having our own post office (a situation only worsened by the recent affectation of Google Maps that anywhere at all that gets its mail from that post office is in “Carmel Hamlet”).
I’ve corrected the implication that it’s only a name for the area around the Town Hall complex and assure you that people at the far corner of town just short of East Fishkill mailing addresses are happily using “Kent Lakes New York 10512” in their addresses.~2025-32010-23 (talk) 16:40, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Diolaneiuma215. Thank you for your work on Grand Forks Township, North Dakota. Another editor, Mariamnei, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thank you for your work on this article. Please add a source for “The township is increasingly shrinking in area due to gradual annexation by Grand Forks.” Furthermore, please establish notability as per WP:NTOWN which states that “Also, if the class of division is not notable (e.g. townships in certain US states) its members are not notable either, even though technically recognized in law. The Geographic Names Information System and the GEOnet Names Server do not satisfy the “legal recognition” requirement and are also unreliable for “populated place” designation.” Thanks and have a great day!
