So if Baldur Bett is an Icelandic person, we should refer to him as “Baldur” or “Baldur Bett”, not as “Bett”. But if he is not Icelandic and just has an Icelandic name, then referring to him as “Bett” is fine. This was the first time that I heard of him, and I haven’t looked him up in the national registry or anything yet, I just saw that his article was hatted with Icelandic name and the lede claimed that he’s Icelandic. –Gurkubondinn (talk) 01:05, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

The current Everton 24 player Carlos Alcaraz (footballer) seems to be known as Charly Alcaraz as per his team’s profile but I think WP:PAGEMOVE applies, i.e. the article content should not have been copied and pasted from the older page to the one which currently has the article content as the page histories on both pages doesn’t look right. This problem may need to be fixed accordingly. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 20:29, 5 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Move now requested. Let’s hope this article now stabilizes. Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 08:04, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, you reverted me with Diff/1325882096 and and mentioned mentioned patronymics in your edit summary.

It’s not about family names and patronymic (or matronymic) names, Icelandic individuals should always be referred to by their given name. Some Icelandic people do have family names, but you should still use their given name when you are talking about them. For example Pétur Blöndal [is] had a family name, but you should refer to him as Pétur. You’d only use his last name if you need to distinguish between him and someone else named Pétur, and then you should his full name and not only his last name.
