Hi, just a courtesy note to say that Aeroroutes and its predecessor, Routes Online, are considered unreliable per the discussion at WP:AEROROUTES. Also please ignore the edit summary in my rv – I mistook you for someone else, I haven’t informed you of this before 🙂 <span class=”nowrap”><span style=”color: RebeccaPurple”>Danners430</span> tweaks made</span> 13:47, 15 November 2025 (UTC)

:so what source would you recommend if aeroroutes isn’t considered independent anymore & the official statements from the company aren’t as well, thanks Hkgspotter (talk) 15:58, 15 November 2025 (UTC)

Although some prefer welcoming newcomers with cookies, I find fruit to be a healthier alternative.

Hello, Hkgspotter, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay.

Why can’t I edit some particular pages?

Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.

How do I create citations?

 1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
 2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
 3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the ‘An arbitrary website’ bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
 4. Click the ‘Get reference wiki text’ button.
 5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like , copy the whole thing).
 6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
 7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
References
Reflist

What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?

A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Information icon Hello, I’m The Banner. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Hong Kong International Airport have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Removal of valid sources The Banner talk 13:33, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at Hong Kong International Airport, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. By giving a source in the edit summary, for example. The Banner talk 16:26, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

well why not add sources for all of the routes then. I can see hundreds of routes without sources, could you actually assist in adding new sources instead of reversing edits, thanks Hkgspotter (talk) 16:29, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I do not have the same access to sources as others do, otherwise I would. I see plenty of unsourced routes, agreed – perhaps it’s time to tag them so that if sources aren’t provided, they can be removed.
Sources are not optional, they are mandatory. Danners430 tweaks made 16:45, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

why not remove the whole page then lol Hkgspotter (talk) 17:10, 26 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Because most of the page is sourced – but some of the routes aren’t. Anyone could legitimately remove the unsourced routes, but people generally place CN tags on the old, unsourced content to encourage the addition of sources. Then after some time, if sources aren’t added, then the content is removed. But new content simply shouldn’t be added unless there’s a source. Danners430 tweaks made 17:19, 26 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

well, some of the routes have been running for older than you and me, for example Cathay Pacific which was formed in the 1940s, with its hub in Hong Kong, have run Manila and San Fransisco routes basiclly since the inception of modern jet aircraft. We commonly source our new routes from websites like Aeroroutes and news outlets, but it would be nearly impossible to see them cover these boring old routes that have run for more than half a century, making sourcing very difficult. It will also be extremely redundant and be a tough read for the reader. The page already has 100+ sources and it would be a logistical nightmare to maintain the site as well. Hkgspotter (talk) 14:45, 28 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Great. It still needs sourcing. Sorry, but nothing changes there. Danners430 tweaks made 20:12, 28 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I will be bringing this issue to the mods so we can have a third opinion regarding the whole issue. Then we can stop arguing and start editing. Thanks Hkgspotter (talk) 03:51, 31 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is meant to be a source where information is easily obtained and read by laymen, not an academic journal that requires intensive sourcing. Hkgspotter (talk) 03:36, 31 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
