I can address Yamla’s concerns briefly right here. In terms of setting out to mislead people, I can assure you that I had no intention of misleading anyone. As I stated in the past It had been a long time since I had used wikipedia and I had forgotten that I had an old account that was banned. Likewise, I was unaware about a topic ban I had violated. (Non-administrator comment) From what I understand, you’d need to build up a significant history of problem-free edits then you could apply for reconsideration, but there’s not usually a set timescale.

Trying to go straight back to problematic areas too soon can give the wrong impression, so I’d focus on building up as much experience as you can in other areas & stay far away from anything that could cause concern.

If/when you’re unblocked with a TBAN and you’ve been able to edit constructively for a few months without any problems you might consider asking for a review, but that’d be much further down the line & it’s too soon to say anything more than that.

For now the best thing to do is focus on getting the basics sorted out & building up a good edit history. I’ll leave the rest to the admins, there’s currently a backlog but someone will be along when they can. Blue Sonnet (talk) 15:41, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, that’s quite a history on that original account. If/when you re-appeal following the Standard offer, make sure to read through the history of warnings and edits on that account, then explain why you acted that way originally and what’s changed in the time that’s passed – sockpuppetry breaks trust, which you now need to spend time and effort fixing.

I do sincerely hope that you buckle down and get a good history elsewhere, since there are some incredible editors who had a similar history to yours and were able to overcome it in the same way. I’m sure you don’t want to be in this same situation in a year or two.

Okay, I’m glad that you’re now able to admit that you did knowingly violate the topic bans. But do you care to revise your statement about sockpuppetry? You said It had been a long time since I had used wikipedia and I had forgotten that I had an old account that was banned. For your own sake, remember that every lie (or lie-through-omission) will add another step to the hill you have to climb to become unblocked.

Unfortunately you’ve chosen to create a hill for yourself, made it steep through socking, then covered it in slippery mud.

You now have the following choices:

walk away and do something else,
make the hill bigger, or
knuckle down and get climbing.
