How can I get my artist bibliography published on Wikipedia? —Canoid Roine (talk) 14:52, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Canoid Roine: I’ll assume that you meant biography and not bibliography. You want to read WP:COI and WP:AUTOBIO first and follow the steps there properly. Please reply back here if you need help to understand some aspect of those pages. Happy editing! –MPGuy2824 (talk) 15:01, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
yes that’s correct, I’ve been trying to create and publish it but it seems like I’m failing to do so, I would like having your hand Canoid Roine (talk) 19:35, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You can start your draft by following the steps at the article wizard. –MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:04, 2 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there…

I wanted to add a name of a major league ball player to the list under Myrtle Beach Blue Jays.
When I hit the edit pen, it opens but I’m not sure where to go from there…

@BC267: Welcome to Wikipedia. You should start and finish WP:TWA. That will teach you some of the basic steps of editing Wikipedia. After that try adding the player to Myrtle Beach Blue Jays again. Reply back here if you get stuck anywhere. Happy editing! –MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:17, 6 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I am trying to publish a wikipedia article on a student (with appropriate consent of course) how do you think I could best approach that? —Interesting Creator (talk) 00:42, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Interesting Creator: Welcome to Wikipedia. I think you should read Help:YFA. You should not be relying on any information directly from the subject themselves, but on reliable secondary sources. In general, most students wouldn’t qualify for a Wikipedia article (an exception would be someone who is well-known for something else but happens to also be a student, e.g. a child chess grandmaster). So make sure that this person meets Wikipedia’s notability guidelines first. Happy editing! –MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:45, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MPGuy2824,

I am looking to make an edit to the troll page which is semi-protected: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(slang)

Would could I get the right to edit it?

I am an academic who has been researching social media violence for 10 years and published on the topic in world-leading academic journals and media outlets.

@OlivierSibai: Welcome to Wikipedia. The article Troll (slang) is semi-protected, which means only registered users who have the autoconfirmed status can edit it; this means user accounts that are at least 4 days old and have made at least 10 edits. If you don’t want to wait until you have 10 edits, then you can read and follow Wikipedia:Edit requests to get an idea about how to make edit requests on Talk:Troll (slang). Hello, I am traveling Mongolia since some weeks and will be doing so the next months.
At many significant places there is no wikipedia article. I want to try to contribute.
Please correct me if I make mistakes.

Thank you,

Vincent —Kuiperonline (talk) 11:23, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Kuiperonline: Welcome to Wikipedia.
  • If you mean that you are going to make articles about places like User:Kuiperonline/sandbox/Jargalantyn Am Deer Stone Site then they will be welcome. Please read Help:YFA, especially the section about gathering sources.
  • Once you think the draft is ready (with enough sources) submit it for review by clicking the blue button.
  • For some places there may not be good photographs on Wikipedia. Make sure you take plenty of photographs. You can upload them to wikipedia after you get back from your vacation.
  • I’ll be fixing some formatting issues in the draft. You can take note of them for your future drafts.

Hello, I am editting an article on Mukkunu a village in South India. The article mentions that the village has a library with notable Malayali works, but as far as I am aware Villages do not have libraries —Floradella (talk) 14:05, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Floradella: Welcome to Wikipedia. I agree that most villages in India do not have public libraries, but there is no law against it. A village panchayat could have allocated some funds for a small library.
That said, the ref cited for this doesn’t mention the village. You can add a {{citation needed}} template and wait for a month or two. If no one is able to find a citation during that time, I think it would be ok to remove the section. Happy editing! –MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:20, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Two weeks ago, the 2025 Developing Countries WikiContest came to a close! After three months of stiff competition at the top of the leaderboard, we have our winners. vigilantcosmicpenguin (submissions), continuing his work on covering abortion in Africa, comes in third with 692 points. simongraham (submissions) comes in second with 763 points, largely from a slew of good articles about jumping spiders. And returning to the podium for the second year in a row, BeanieFan11 (submissions) takes the Gold Belt Buckle with a mind-boggling 946 points from his series of articles on sportpersons. Congratulations to our winners!

Amazingly, the award for the most countries covered goes to both BeanieFan11 (submissions) and simongraham (submissions), who each submitted articles under 30 flags! BeanieFan11 (submissions) also wins for writing the most quality articles (16 good articles). For submitting 16 articles related to El Salvador, PizzaKing13 (submissions) wins the award for most submissions under one country. The award for most submissions related to women goes to both Spookyaki (submissions) (7 biographies about women) and vigilantcosmicpenguin (submissions) (21 related articles). And for the second year, simongraham (submissions) wins for the most reviews, having submitted 21!

Among the participants’ contributions were 2 FAs, 5 FLs, 124 GAs, and an uncounted number of DYKs, ITNs, and reviews of every kind! Regardless of your level of participation, every contestant can be proud to have contributed towards a major step in countering the systemic bias on Wikipedia. Every year, millions of readers and editors around the globe use Wikipedia to educate themselves and communicate with others about parts of the world that often receive less attention than they deserve. Thank you for participating with us in the contest and contributing to this effort. The DCWC will return next year, and we look forward to seeing you contribute again! However, before that…

We need your feedback! Join the conversation on the talk page to discuss your reflections on the contest (even if you didn’t participate!) and help us make it better.

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or ask one of the coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). Hello. This is my second created account on Wikipedia. The only other previous experience I have with editing is adding the film “The Poseidon Adventure 2005” to actor Geoff Pierson’s film credits. I’ve lost that account unfortunately so I made a new one. I’ve posted this as a discussion but wanted to also ask you. Ive copied and pasted the same message from that user talk. My dad, uncle, grandpa, great uncle, and cousin are listed on Wikipedia. Some of their articles have info that I would like to add but I’m not sure how to cite info. The info that I want to add is true but I’m worried that I won’t be able to find cited sources to add and that my edits will get changed. And I don’t want to add info from personal experience. I’m wanting to add stuff such as mentioning children that are not already listed in personal life sections. My dad doesn’t have a personal life section in his article so, if possible, could I create one mentioning a child and past marriage? Or would that not be possible due to a lack of an article or other source mentioning them? How can I get my problems resolved? —RayceLee (talk) 22:53, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@RayceLee: Welcome to Wikipedia. I see that you’ve asked your question in the teahouse as well. You’ve got a good response there which I don’t think I can improve upon. If you have a follow-up question, then please feel free to ask there OR here. Happy editing! –MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:04, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I’m one of the Founders for the non-profit organization known as The McNab Stockdog Foundation , our Board would like to add info to the Wikipedia site for the breed and receive reference recognition . How do we go about it . Thank you for your help —GarcinT (talk) 23:57, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@GarcinT: Welcome to Wikipedia. I think you want to edit the McNab dog article. First, you need to read WP:COI and follow the instructions there.
What do you mean by “receive reference recognition”? If you want to play it safe, then you can add your suggested changed along with references to the article’s talk page and an uninvolved editor will take care of it, assuming it is written in a neutral tone and isn’t promotional. I have watch listed that page, so that editor might be me, if the information to be added isn’t too technical. Happy editing! –MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:55, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The Reviewer Barnstar
You have been quite diligent with your Wikipedia work, reviewing many new pages and redirects, improving articles to Featured List, getting a Good Article and reviewing diligently at FLC. This is especially impressive as you have focused on improving articles in underrepresented areas. In addition, you have volunteered to be a mentor (which I would never do because it seems very frustrating and a time sink). The praise is genuine, and I would have recognized you for it regardless, but I also have a request for you. You created a new map for List of World Heritage Sites in Arab States, and I am truly grateful for that. I was wondering if you could create a similar list but for the UNESCO georegion of Africa? You would only need to exclude the North African states, already listed on the Arab list, and European colonies. I am currently working on a restructure of the African list similar to the Arab list, and it would make the visual representation more clear. Thanks, 🇪🇭🇵🇸🇸🇩 Easternsahara 🇪🇭🇵🇸🇸🇩 02:48, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the barnstar, Easternsahara.
I’m happy to modify the Africa map: [1]. Ping me on the file’s talk page if you find any errors. –MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:26, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, regarding mentorship, anyone who has more than a few thousand edits can do it (if they have the time). I’d say there are three buckets that you can classify questions into: A-questions that you immediately know the answer to (the most common questions), B-you don’t know the answer, but you know how to search for it and C-you have no clue. For the last bucket, I check with the discord server, where there is a wide group of editors whose range of knowledge is much more than mine. You should consider it adding yourself to the list. –MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:13, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
