- @Doug Weller, This user claims that he has filed a legal case against me because he found my edit on Ramadoss offensive when it wasn’t. If I am not wrong, legal threats are not allowed on Wikipedia. I went through his edit history and found that he has a history of blackmailing people with legal threats and he always writes threats in Tamil so that he can evade the attention of admins. You can use Google or any other reliable translation tool to verify the distasteful comment that he left on my talk page.
- Please ban him from the website forever. He is a threat to the Wikipedia editor community. Palli Thev Pasanga (talk) 02:06, 6 September 2025 (UTC)

Contentious topic alert for the region of South Asia, including social groups
[edit]
You have recently edited a page related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days in order to make edits related to two subtopics: (1) Indian military history, or (2) social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks’ noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Other contentious topics
[edit]
Hi Palli Thev Pasanga, please remember that South Asian social groups (defined as “social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal”) are under the extended confirmed restriction. This means you are not allowed to make edits about South Asian social groups on Wikipedia until your account is extended confirmed, which will automatically happen when you make a total of 500 edits on your account. There are currently 56 edits in your edit history, so you are not yet eligible to make edits in this topic area. However, as an exception, you may submit constructive edit requests related to South Asian social groups on article talk pages.
In your edit Special:Diff/1313516036, you added the phrase “low caste” to an article, and in Special:Diff/1315203580, you re-added the text “Both criminals belonged to his own community – low caste Palli“. These edits are prohibited by the extended confirmed restriction, but even if your account were extended confirmed, these edits would still be inappropriate because they are unsourced statements in a biography of a living person. Additionally, the “low caste” descriptor (in particular) comes across as inflammatory, especially when it is unclear (due to the lack of reliable sourcing) why the Palli caste warrants a mention in the article at all.
I am posting here because Minakshi Pillai brought your edit Special:Diff/1316241503 to my attention on my talk page at User talk:Newslinger § User:Palli Thev Pasanga. Your edit, which contains the sentence “I want to collaborate with you on enriching articles related to low caste Pallis”, was also prohibited by the extended confirmed restriction, which applies to all edits about South Asian social groups on all Wikipedia pages. Once again, I am not sure why you mentioned “low caste” in your comment, as it appears to be unnecessary when the term “Pallis” by itself would have sufficed. Please remember that other editors are people who may be associated with a caste, or who may know others who are associated with a caste; referring to a community as “low caste” in a comment to another editor, when not needed or justified by the context, falls short of the “consideration and respect“ that the civility policy requires of all editors.
This message is a warning against violating the extended confirmed restriction on the subtopic of South Asian social groups, and has been recorded in the arbitration enforcement log. Please ensure that your future edits in the South Asia contentious topic comply with all applicable policies, guidelines, and topic area restrictions. Thank you. — Newslinger talk 07:53, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hey thank you for your message. I didn’t mention “low caste” out of malice. I mentioned it to disambiguate as “Palli” could mean different communities.
- One question – Can I participate in talk pages and debate/discuss on contentious edits in caste related pages, even if I am not allowed to contribute to the main articles? Can I persuade/discuss with extended users to help them contribute to main articles? Palli Thev Pasanga (talk) 14:42, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for clarifying. Please see Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Procedures § Extended confirmed restriction (WP:ECR) for the specific details of the extended confirmed restriction, which are very strict. Aside from constructive edit requests on article talk pages (i.e. pages that begin with “Talk:”), no other edits about South Asian social groups are allowed on any Wikipedia page while your account is not extended confirmed. This means you are not allowed to participate in caste-related discussions or debates, regardless of whether the other participants are extended confirmed, until your account is extended confirmed.I understand that the restriction is inconvenient because it overlaps with many subjects in the South Asia topic area, but the English Wikipedia community has been having difficulty keeping disruptive caste-related edits under control, and the Arbitration Committee has determined that the restriction is the best way to encourage policy compliance in this topic area at this time. — Newslinger talk 15:34, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
@Newslinger, Hi. I have a actual question. Does this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1987_Vanniyar_reservation_agitation, fall under the restricted pages for a registered user under 500 edits? While it seems it falls under restricted pages ( caste-related topics) for users like me, from your earlier messages, it seems another user – @Minakshi Pillai, has been editing on this page even though they haven’t crossed the 500 edit limit . While I am interested on editing this page, I refrain from doing so to avoid violation of the restriction on me. Or am I overthinking? Can I contribute on this page like @Minakshi Pillai doing? Palli Thev Pasanga (talk) 02:50, 18 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Palli Thev Pasanga, you are correct that 1987 Vanniyar reservation agitation is covered under the extended confirmed restriction in WP:CT/SASG, and I have protected the article accordingly. Since the extended confirmed restriction also disallows editors who are not extended confirmed from filing requests for pages covered by the restriction, please leave future enforcement requests to extended confirmed editors. Thank you. — Newslinger talk 05:02, 18 October 2025 (UTC)
