Reasons for my raising wikistress:

Some general observations on Wikipedia governance being broken and good editors trampled by the system

Wikipedia is a kawaii mistress 🙂

Recorded publications in the field of applications of mathematics show that JZ has not only engineering results but also mathematics.
Additionally, Zarzycki is full professor which is not so often and it is not comparable with professor position exept very special professorship in US.
Recognition that serving as dean for two terms should be sufficient in conjunction with the title of professor from the President of the Republic of Poland. During JZ’s tenure, nominations were preceded by elections. Winning the nomination meant that the candidate had demonstrated his or her many talents, skills, and knowledge.
I don’t know if JZ needs this article, but it, this article, is certainly needed by academics from European Union countries to understand the organization of science in other countries. This is the primary purpose of publishing this type of text on Wikipedia. It does not serve as a showcase for the person we are writing about.

@Ldm1954 @Russ Woodroofe @Bearian In the case of the cited who’s who, the publication of the biographies is not associated with a fee (or any other type of financial extortion). There are opportunities to purchase a deluxe edition or poster associated with this publication. I’ve noticed that the publishing house has likely disappeared—which can be linked to the development of Wikipedia and the internet.
BTW -MR & zbMAth: THAT’S not as simple as this sentence claim. Most entries in zbMath and MR(MathSciNEt) are abstracts of the mentioned paper (not all published article are there – Only from recognized mathematical journals.). However, there are peer-reviewed papers, and these have the author’s opinions. Recording an engineer’s results in the database of mathematical results is a significant distinction—as long as they are peer-reviewed.
SCOPUS and Web of Science should not be confused with papers/ journals in zbMath and MR.

The result was delete. Already two AFDs for this subject in one year, let’s not make it 3 Ldm1954 (talk) 10:54, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Ldm1954 @Russ Woodroofe @Bearian Supervising doctoral theses during Zarzycki’s active years was not the same as earning a doctorate after doctoral school or doctoral studies. Obtaining the title of professor required, in addition to significant research results, also supervising students—which was equivalent to supervising a doctoral dissertation. Zarzycki’s career path certainly meets the requirements of a “distiguish professor.”

@KSz at OWPTM My talk page is not the right venue to continue this discussion; you could try Wikipedia:Deletion review. Although I don’t think you’ll have much luck unless you can find better sources discussing Zarzycki’s importance. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:04, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your advice and understanding.
I’m not entirely comfortable navigating this maze of procedures, even though I have experience with other IT-supported publishing systems.
I don’t know how to run Wikipedia:Deletion review. Have I study one semester course to do that?
I responded directly to the editor who deleted the article.User talk:Liz#Jan Zarzycki
I recently found an article about Faddeev. It’s in several languages—but even though he’s dead, we still don’t see the magnitude of his discoveries. How the Wiki’s Editors is able to evaluate the person better than at least 4(professorship)+3(habilitation)+2 (PhD)=9 reviewers? In case of Faddeev his great achievement on several pages of one forgotten article.
I don’t know if what I did is recoverable, because if not, I think I’ll ban myself from Wikipedia.

@KSz at OWPTM If you mean your Zarzycki article, you can use the procedure mentioned above, or ask Liz, do WP:USERFY it for you.
I don’t know who Faddev is. You can always try to write an article about them. If there is an article about him, it is a strong indication of notability. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:01, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
