Hello, Tizio,

DumbBOT made a strange update right here that removed all formatting from this page. It is really odd and even though I know you aren’t really active on the project right now, I hope you, or a friendly talk page stalker, can look into this so the page will continue to update without any problems. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 18:54, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. This message is cross-posted from DumbBOT’s talk page in case you’ll get a notice from this posting. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 18:54, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A one-time glitch due to a disk full in one of the computers that run the bot. Thanks for reporting. Tizio 03:59, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tizio,

It looks like User:DumbBOT is inactive. Can you check on it and make sure that it’s working properly? Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 16:52, 25 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The bot is running as usual, but the wikipedia server is rejecting certain requests because they exceeded a hour limit. I have an extension to 5000 per hour and the bot is certainly not doing so many, but to no avail. I do not have the time to circumvent the issue. In these conditions, the bot just cannot work. It looks like the bot is down again or, at least, it’s not updating User:DumbBOT/ProdSummary. Just thought I’d drop you a note about it. Of course, editing life goes on, but it’s nice when everything is working like it regularly does. I do not know what to make of your explanation but then I’m not technically adept. I appreciate after all of these years, you are still checking in when your fellow editors have questions. Liz Read! Talk! 00:24, 29 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The bot has been disabled. See the bot page for details. Tizio 03:54, 30 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t understand. The message on the bot page refers to User:DschwenBot but that bot hasn’t been active in over a decade. I can’t imagine how we will handle Proposed Deletions without a functioning DumbBOT. Please tell me if this is temporary or permanent. Liz Read! Talk! 22:40, 30 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please see Wikipedia:Bots/Noticeboard#User:DumbBOT, where we have some theories about what is going on. One theory is that the rate limit has to do with your bot not using a User Agent — maybe try adding one and see if that fixes things. (It sounds like WMF has been clamping down lately on bots that don’t identify themselves via User Agent).
Also, if you’re interested, I’d be happy to set up auto archiving for this talk page, which is lagging my browser a bit. Just let me know. –Novem Linguae (talk) 06:05, 31 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I really don’t have the time to sort this out now. I will check this at the end of the week. Tizio 04:09, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am unable to fix the bot given my available time. It will not resume any operation. Sorry. Tizio 15:30, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I noticed you’re a bot operator, so I thought you might be interested in a hackathon we’re organizing: the Wikimedia Hackathon Northwestern Europe 2026, on 13–14 March in Arnhem, Netherlands.

It’s a two-day, technically oriented hackathon bringing together Wikimedians from the region. Whether you want to work on bot frameworks, tools, or other technical projects, this could be a great opportunity to collaborate with fellow developers. Registration closes mid-January or when full.
