Hi! I’ve bulk-declined a good number of your [[WP:A7]] nominations of apparently non-notable badminton players (after checking that all had placed in at least one tournament or match or whatever). I did so because – as I read it – our A7 criterion is specific that a page should not be deleted if it contains a plausible claim of significance, and I can’t see how being runner-up in a contest could fail that requirement – open to discussion if you disagree, of course. Just a thought: what if you create lists such as [[:List of Danish badminton players]], and just [[WP:BLAR]] these pages to an entry there (with a ref lifted from the individual page)? :I personally think redirecting those names isn’t helpful at all. Article creation is a thankless task, but as we moved on, our guidelines and policies became stricter. I joined in 2020 when NBAD still was very inclusive. It even considered national champions as notable, even if those players never made it to the international stage. |

:So, being “runner-up” is no more a plausible claim of any player’s notability, especially if its in a low grade tournaments like [[BWF International Challenge]] and [[BWF International Series]]. You can read the current [[WP:NBAD]], which is still insignificant because the notability is still determined through GNG. <span style=”border-radius:3em;padding:0 2px;background:#ccffed;border:2px solid #00b7eb”>[[User:Zglph|<b style=”color:#615200″>zglph</b>]]</span>[[User talk:Zglph|•talk•]] 20:07, 1 November 2025 (UTC) |

Hi! I’ve bulk-declined a good number of your WP:A7 nominations of apparently non-notable badminton players (after checking that all had placed in at least one tournament or match or whatever). I did so because – as I read it – our A7 criterion is specific that a page should not be deleted if it contains a plausible claim of significance, and I can’t see how being runner-up in a contest could fail that requirement – open to discussion if you disagree, of course. Just a thought: what if you create lists such as List of Danish badminton players, and just WP:BLAR these pages to an entry there (with a ref lifted from the individual page)? - I personally think redirecting those names isn’t helpful at all. Article creation is a thankless task, but as we moved on, our guidelines and policies became stricter. I joined in 2020 when NBAD still was very inclusive. It even considered national champions as notable, even if those players never made it to the international stage.
- So, being “runner-up” is no more a plausible claim of any player’s notability, especially if its in a low grade tournaments like BWF International Challenge and BWF International Series. You can read the current WP:NBAD, which is still insignificant because the notability is still determined through GNG. zglph•talk• 20:07, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
