Tiangus Touristico (formerly the Acapulco Tourist Market) is an annual tourism trade show in Mexico. Established in 1975, it brings together tour operators, travel agencies, and tourism industry representatives to promote Mexican tourist destinations. The event is considered the country’s most important tourism trade fair.
The Tianguis Turístico was held in Acapulco from 1978 to 2011. In 2012, Mexican Tourism Board under guidance of Executive Director Eduardo Chaillo initiated changes to enhance tourism promotion by rebranding the event to the Tianguis Turístico México from the former Acapulco Tourism market. Changes included rebranding Mexico tourism, retitling the event, and rotating the event among different Mexican cities while returning to Acapulco biennially. Chaillo also introduced the tracking of attendance and participation metrics to improve the event’s international visibility and engagement.
