Lead:

I really love this topic idea. The first sentence in the lead states the topic which is the Venezuelan labor law. The last paragraph ties in the idea of how it has influenced feminist movements, but perhaps it could be more specific about the problems women faced in terms of labor standards before the law was implemented. What was the state of Venezuelan labor standards at the time? Including a brief sentence or two about the conditions women faced would help guide the reader and make it clear that the law and your discussion of it is directly connected to feminist movements and women’s labor rights.

Content:

History

– The sentence on how state programs “failed to protect women and subjected them to further hardships” may sound somewhat evaluative. Be sure not to generalize. In the sentence “neoliberal restructuring had many negative effects on Latin American women…” Sure, neoliberal restructuring was not done for the benefit of all the people, but it could be argued that some elite women did benefit.

– I like the addition of La Arana Feminista, it highlights how women actively were trying to shift their levels of representation for the better.

– The sentence on the failures on the the Puntofijista Organic Labor Law does not give reader context on how it failed.

Key Reforms

– I like this section. It is good to note the impacts of the law such as how it strengthend worker protections and mobilized political support for the election.

-There is a part where the reforms came labor unions (was it feminist or just general or both?).

– A question to consider is if the law had any negative impacts?

Contributing Feminist Movements

– Overall I like this section. It provides a clear understanding of the feminist movements that pushed for the passing of the law.

Tone and Balance

Perhaps the history section could have some changes in the tone (check history section under content) but overall it is neutral.

Sources and References

This looks good, secondary sources and evidence is backed up with a citation.

Organization

Perhaps the section on the Contributing Feminist Movements that occurred prior to the law could be placed before the Key Reforms section. This would guide the reader more effectively by showing that these movements helped create the conditions for the law’s passage, and that the reforms emerged in direct response to their activism.

Overall Impression

Really great article. I think labor rights is such an important topic and I enjoyed learning about how feminist movements pushed for meaningful change in Venezuela, and that their efforts were successful. You all really built off the original draft very well. Adding in much more context and an understanding on the law.
