I have been looking at the “Physical Education” Wikipedia article and realized it needs a stronger foundation, specifically regarding the health evidence. To fix this, I am planning to integrate two reports I found from the World Health Organization and the CDC. Both are solid, verifiable sources that will give the entry some much-needed technical weight.

Right now, the lead section describes what Physical Education is, but misses the mark on why it actually matters. I want to rewrite that opening to bridge the gap between classroom activity and long-term wellness. I’m going to use the WHO’s 2010 global recommendations to add some weight to the idea that childhood exercise is a major driver for health down the road. I also want to add in those 2023 CDC facts. They show that schools are often the most practical place for students to actually hit their activity goals. It makes the opening feel less dated. Right now, the page feels unbalanced. It’s heavy on teaching theory and curriculum but doesn’t really pull the actual health benefits into a single, clear section. I’m going to add a specific section for that. The WHO data is perfect for explaining the mechanics of cardiovascular health and bone strength, while the CDC source helps connect the dots between physical activity, mental health, and even how kids perform in their other classes. This addition moves the page away from being purely descriptive and makes it more of an evidence-based resource. It fills a major content gap by looking at PE through a public health lens.
