Rev. Jean de Dieu Hakizimana (born 1967) is a Rwandan–Canadian minister, community advocate, and multilingual communications professional based in British Columbia.[1] He is known for his involvement supporting newcomers, refugees, and immigrant families in Metro Vancouver, and for his work as an interpreter in legal and health settings.[2]
Early life and education

Hakizimana was born in 1967 in Rwanda.[3] He immigrated to Canada on 26 July 1996, settling in Vancouver, British Columbia.[4]
He studied in British Columbia, graduating from the University of the Fraser Valley with a Bachelor of Arts in Adult Education in 2008.[5] He also holds a Diploma in Business Administration from CDI College (2004), pursued theological studies at Trinity Western University, and later completed coursework in Information Systems Analysis and Quality Management at the Canadian College of Technology & Business in 2022.[6]
Hakizimana serves as minister of **Kindness Church of God**, a Christian congregation in British Columbia that emphasizes outreach to immigrant families and multilingual worship services.[7]
From 2008 to 2023, Hakizimana worked as a professional interpreter and translator providing services in Swahili, Kinyarwanda, French, and Kirundi for government agencies, courts, and health institutions in British Columbia, including BC Supreme Court and WorkSafeBC.[8]
He has also held positions supporting education, employment counseling, and life-skills training with organizations in Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Toronto, and Ottawa.[9]
Hakizimana has participated in community advocacy initiatives, settlement support programs, and cultural outreach events, including multilingual services and refugee support.[10]
