La Fabrique Éditions is a French publishing house. It was started in 1998 by the writer and activist Éric Hazan.
History
La Fabrique was founded by Éric Hazan, who was a surgeon before becoming a publisher.[1] Hazan came from a family of publishers; his father founded Éditions Hazan, which Éric sold to the Hachette group in 1992 before starting La Fabrique as an independent house.[2]
The company is known for publishing political books. These often feature far-left ideas, including Marxism and anarchism.[3] Their books also focus on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
One of their most famous publications is The Coming Insurrection (2007) by the “Invisible Committee.” This book discusses the idea of a political uprising.
2023 London incident
In 2023, the company’s foreign rights manager, Ernest Moret, was arrested by British police while traveling to a book fair in London. He was questioned under anti-terrorism laws.[4] In 2024, the London Metropolitan Police reached a financial settlement with Moret after an independent report found that the arrest was not justified.[5]
Political Stance
Éric Hazan stated that he mostly published works by his “friends.” Some of the books have been controversial, such as The Holocaust Industry by Norman Finkelstein and works by Houria Bouteldja. Hazan described Bouteldja as a “partner in struggle” and defended her revolutionary political views.[6]
