Early life and education
[edit]
Vest-Walton was born on August 23, 2004, Los Angeles, California His father, Timothy Edward Walton (born 1962), worked as a guard for the Los Angeles County Probation Department, and his mother, Julia Lynn Vest (born 1963), served as a director within the department.[1] He has a twin sister, Niko.
At age 11, Vest-Walton moved with his family to Baldwin Vista. He attended Temple Akiba Preschool, Community Magnet Charter School, and New West Charter School, graduating in 2022.
He later enrolled at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he was introduced to the wildlife observation app iNaturalist. His early use of the app inspired a daily practice of documenting plants and animals, reinforcing his interest in zoology. After leaving Hampshire, he returned to Los Angeles to attend Santa Monica College, and later transferred to the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in zoology in 2029.
