American-Israelis are Americans who have immigrated to live in Israel or in settlements in the West Bank, which is part of the State of Palestine.[1][a] These immigrants typically gain Israeli citizenship, and are overwhelmingly, if not entirely Jewish, either by heritage, by religious practice, or both.

Since its earliest years, the state of Israel has maintained a very open policy of welcoming anyone with some Jewish heritage to settle in Israel. The attendant process to gain citizenship is very accepting of these immigrants.
