Quantum Source Labs Ltd. (also known as QS Labs) is an Israeli private company that develops photonic quantum computing hardware. The company aims to build scalable and fault-tolerant quantum computers based on a hybrid photon-atom architecture.
Quantum Source was founded in 2021 in Rehovot, Israel. The company’s technology is based on more than two decades of quantum optics research conducted at the Weizmann Institute of Science.
In 2022, Quantum Source raised US$15 million in seed funding co-led by Grove Ventures, Pitango First, and Eclipse Ventures. In 2023, it extended its seed round with an additional US$12 million. In 2024, the company raised a US$50 million Series A round led by Eclipse, with participation from Standard Investments, Level VC, Canon Equity, Dell Technologies Capital, Pitango First, Grove Ventures, and 10D – bringing its total funding to about US$77 million.
In 2025, Quantum Source announced ORIGIN, a photonic-atomic core engine for scalable quantum computers. The launch was presented at the Quantum World Congress in Washington, D.C., in a keynote featuring company board member and former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
Quantum Source is developing a photonic quantum computing platform based on deterministic light–matter interactions. Its approach combines single trapped atoms with photonic qubits to enable deterministic photon generation and entangling gates.
The company’s architecture employs cavity quantum electrodynamics (cavity-QED) to create strong coupling between photons and atoms confined in micron-scale resonators. This interaction supports two native quantum gates:
- a SWAP gate, exchanging a qubit between an atom and a photon, and
- a controlled-phase (CZ) gate applying a π-phase shift when both qubits are in the “1” state.
The system includes built-in verification steps ensuring only one atom is trapped per site, allowing automatic reloading or correction. Unlike probabilistic photonic systems, this approach is deterministic and does not require complex feed-forward control or large optical switching networks.
The design is intended to operate at room temperature, reducing infrastructure complexity compared to cryogenic quantum computers. Quantum Source states that its architecture can efficiently generate and entangle large clusters of photons, supporting scaling to millions of physical qubits.
Quantum Source employs more than 50 scientists and engineers, including multiple professors and PhD-level researchers. The company is headquartered in Ness Ziyona, Israel.

Partnerships and ecosystem
[edit]
The company collaborates with research institutions and industry partners to develop scalable quantum hardware. Quantum Source has stated that its systems are intended for deployment both on-premises and through a “Quantum Computing as a Service” (QCaaS) model. Target applications include scientific research, materials design, optimization, and secure communications.
