Vietnamese civil war: Difference between revisions

Although the two Vietnams were ”de facto” [[sovereign state]]s while a civil war means a war between factions within a country, they both claimed sovereignty over all of [[Vietnam]]. Furthermore, the South Vietnamese government nominally fought the [[Viet Cong]], an insurgent movement controlled by the North. Not only a [[civil war]], it was also a [[proxy war]] during the [[Cold War]] between the [[Soviet Union|USSR]]-led [[Eastern Bloc|communist bloc]] and the [[United States|US]]-led [[Western Bloc|capitalist bloc]].
