Viewndow (also known as Pinaview) is an adware and potentially unwanted program (PUP) for Windows.
Viewndow is advertised in the websites pinaview.com and viewndow.com as an useful and lightweight tool to pin windows without being covered by others and it acts like a browser hijacker that redirects to different pages and changes the default search engine.[1]
Viewndow contains the SDK by GlobalHop that creates output nodes on infected devices; These nodes get sold by GlobalHop Ltd. to other companies that offer VPN and proxy services.[2][3]
This program is ofted distributed in bundles along other PUPs. Viewndow uses various ways of persistence, such as creating of multiple registry keys or adding startup programs.
Viewndow doesn’t have a graphical interface, but it uses a tray icon with buttons that appear when you click on it: one for pinning and unpinning windows, one for configuring app settings, and more.
When the app gets uninstalled, some of its registry keys and files created by the program stay.
It”s correlated to other programs with the same SDK, like Waliant, Taskbarify, RestMinder, and more.
