Township refers to: (1) The seat of the town peoples government and other neighborhood committee areas under the jurisdiction of the town; (2) The urban construction of the town people’s government seat has been extended to the surrounding village committee seats, and its town area should also include the entire area of the village committee.

I think, given that it’s Asian Month for November, it would make the most sense if I run a contest in support in the vein of Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The European Destubathon. I would like to include Oceania in the contest given that it would be unlikely to have its own regional contest, but editors contributing to this could focus on contributing Asian articles. I am thinking of allowing both destubs/article improvements and new articles for this, given that Asian Month is about both article improvements and creations, and have long wanted to run something which also supports new articles. That would keep things varied and interesting, rather than solely doing destubathons every time.

Unlike the European and World destubathons though, with this we would likely give daily prizes, particularly for the fields of STEM and real world places and have some smaller general prizes. OKA can put up $2500 for it, but given that WMUK won’t likely be involved, I would need somebody to receive the grant money and help giving out in prizes. The prizes wouldn’t be given out until the end and would be Amazon vouchers by default unless the recipient has a valid reason why this is unacceptable. Pinging some of the regulars from past contests @Sturmvogel 66:, @SuperJew:, @Magentic Manifestations:, @BeanieFan11:, @Stevie fae Scotland:, @The C of E:, Secretlondon, Guerreroast, Chongkian etc and seeing what people think, as well as input from the Asian Month organizers and regulars. I support it, though I wouldn’t contribute much – if at all – because I’ve never really been an contributor to Asian articles. I do have some Asian elephants in my forever-expanding ‘to create’ list which I could do, but unless I fetch more of them, that’ll run out quickly. I would say that if its going to be similar to the European one, I’ll be up for it. I like the idea of daily prizes too. I can’t say I know much about the region outside of historical references but I’ll give it a go. I think if you’re doing new articles too (which I fully back), you need to have something like a minimum prose requirement in place to ensure people don’t just churn out stubs. @Dr. Blofeld, I would support this, as there is a plethora of Asian articles which require destubbing. As suggested earlier, if we are going to have countries/geographies, we need to probably have countries plus larger subdivisions of large countries (China, Australia, India, Indonesia etc.). Last time, we had much smaller entities during the world destubathon, which did not have many articles as such. The idea of doling out daily prizes is a good one, which would probably reward people who are able to contribute only in spurts, and still do meaningful additions. One more suggestion is on the distribution of prizes (particularly as WMUK is not going to be involved). While Amazon vouchers are a good and preferable way, it has run into issues in the past as Amazon does not allow vouchers for a specific country to be procured using an international card (at least for my country!). So would probably need look at third party agents (used by Wikimedia for certain other prizes) or some other way to dole out the same. Well, in my experience people have the tendency to create new articles more than they do expanding existing articles so I am certain the new articles would be given a significant boost with such a contest even if we also allow destubs! I will set up a contest page this week for you to view. Is there a directory of missing articles we want for Asia? That would help a lot. I’m thinking of keeping it relatively simple for this Magentic Manifestations, thinking of keeping it mainly to actual countries, as much as I like the idea of big countries like China and India having a focus on individual states. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:38, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think an article creation contest really needs to have a sea of red links in plain view for editors to work through. A detailed directory of articles we want started by country. Two weeks notice even if I drew it up today is too short notice I think. I was trying to add some articles via Fountain, but when I try to submit, it hangs at the submission screen and it stays there indefinitely without ever being added. Their talk pages get edited to add the WAM2025 template, but they aren’t added to the system itself. Could someone add the articles to Fountain?
