I’ve placed the request for the above article ”on hold” because I’ve moved it to draftspace; I suggest we decline the request until it’s suitable for mainspace. The requested had submitted it for review, which was declined, and moved it back to mainspace anyway. @Excellenc1: Are you still working on this? You last edited this article on 5 July. Mox Eden (talk) 16:34, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Mox Eden: I’m sorry I got a bit busy with other stuff irl, there are still sections in the article that need cleanup. Excellenc1 (talk) 19:25, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Excellenc1: Still busy? Mox Eden (talk) 07:00, 30 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Mox Eden Yes actually my bad. I got some time yesterday but I got reminded that I have an old draft pending so I continued working on that. I may or may not come back to this article in a short while. It’s pretty tedious to check all the citations and modify tone of the content. Excellenc1 (talk) 19:57, 30 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It is possible to copy-edit Draft:The World After Gaza:A History, as it appears to have been moved to the draft page due to its promotional tone. GolsaGolsa (talk) 07:23, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@GolsaGolsa: Hello. We do not usually copy edit drafts. You might ask those who declared the article as too promotional to explain exactly what language they are objecting to. Also, read the pages linked under the “How to improve a draft” section of the “Draft article not currently submitted for review.” banner, and see what you can do to improve its neutral tone.
Looking at just the lead, a sentence such as The World After Gaza:A History written by Pankaj Mishra in February 2025, explores themes of Zionism, the Shoah, antisemitism, philosemitism, and The work is personal, historical, philosophical, and revolutionary. seems okay as far as tone, but the title should be in italics, there should be a comma after “History”, and “The work…” should begin a separate sentence, as apparently was originally intended. Dhtwiki (talk) 08:29, 8 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
A sentence such as “The World After Gaza” is a novel that presents striking portrayals of men and women who strive, and occasionally falter, in their efforts to protest the injustices of their era. The book serves as a cautionary tale against complicity in this trend and highlights the peril of undermining the existing world order. could be shortened, perhaps to “men and women who protest”, omitting “strive, and occasionally falter, in their efforts to”, although those words seem more unnecessarily verbose than promotional to me. I just submitted Hurricane Helene for a copy/edit request and I am hoping an editor could do a rush on it. The anniversary is coming up at the end of September, and the article will almost certainly be viewed over 100,000 times, given it spent two weeks in the Top 25 list last year. Short notice, but hopefully someone is willing to copy/edit the article before the anniversary on September 26, 2025. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 00:55, 9 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

(since others may also go check) Hurricane Helene is 8,772 words. Wracking talk! 01:02, 9 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t encourage editors to take articles ahead of those that have been waiting longer, but they are free to do so, especially if the subject really interests them and not just because the requester is asking for it to be rushed. I took a quick look at the lead and found only one thing that I would correct:
“…Helene began forming on September 22, 2024 as a broad low-pressure system…”
Where a comma after “2024” is appropriate.
Looking at the rest of the article, I noticed not flaws in prose but a jumble of misaligned images, which is not something copy editors usually address. I would suggest a review by members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Tropical cyclones, which considers the article of top importance. They should be interested and able to bring considerable expertise. Dhtwiki (talk) 06:18, 9 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Something else to consider: for the ongoing September copy editing drive we are limiting the request months for which 50% bonuses are given to June and July, whereas we often give such bonuses for any request taken during a drive. Therefore, an editor taking a September request might be disappointed, if they are expecting a bonus based on previous experience. Dhtwiki (talk) 21:29, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick note: I’ve removed a repeated request for the article D. P. Atapattu here; the original request was added in July and has been completed here. I hope you’re all well IRL. Cheers, 🅑🅐🅖 ☿ 🅴🅻🅵🅵🅰🅱 00:37, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this was recently requested but it’s probably too unstable to copyedit for now, can another coord take a look? Cheers – GoldRomean (talk) 12:34, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I couldn’t agree more; now is not the time, and the article will eventually stabilize. Not sure if the requester understands what copyediting entails. All the best, Miniapolis 17:00, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

In the past, we have sometimes marked such requests as  On hold and let them float to the top of the list. Sometimes they settle down by the time a month or two has passed. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:36, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I’ve removed three excess requests here (diff) by a regular requester. I’ve notified them at their talk page here (diff). Cheers, 🅑🅐🅖 ☿ 🅴🅻🅵🅵🅰🅱 07:54, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Failed an FAC, with apparent MOS & reference issues which multiple editors indicate need to be fixed. Can someone go through the article and references and ensure they are aligned with MOS? Thanks in advance! From the FAC:Examples of MOS issues include unmarked postal abbreviations, repeated links, and missing alts. Examples of citation inconsistencies include whether newspapers are italicized, whether authors are listed last name or first name first, and whether ISSNs are included for periodicals. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 01:12, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@WeatherWriter: Most, if not all, of what you mention could, and should, be treated by the subject-matter editors. “[U]nmarked postal abbreviations” mean what? I see two-letter state abbreviations being linked; that should be enough. WP:OVERLINK should be consulted and links removed accordingly (this is a fairly short article, of ~800 words, as we measure such things). There shouldn’t be much need for linking a particular prose term more than once (you might even consider cutting down on linking the state postal abbreviations in your table, such as “MS” and “AL”). Consistent formatting of references, as well as what detail they contain, and how punctuated, are not what copy editors concentrate on. Nowhere in your FAC quotation does it say “prose issues”, which is a better sign that the guild should be called in. Dhtwiki (talk) 09:58, 5 June 2025 (UTC) (edited 10:03, 5 June 2025 (UTC))[reply]
@WeatherWriter: I’ve given it a going over and think I got most of the major problems. The citations are all using standard CS1 templates, the image alts look fine, I removed a bunch of wiki links and rewrote some of the prose. But I have absolutely no idea what is actually going on, the first tornado on the chart should probably be pulled into its own section, and then make it clearer which statistics belong to that one (3) tornado(es) versus the whole cluster. ~ Argenti Aertheri(Chat?) 23:48, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Done – Note the warning in Preview mode Preview warning: This article seems to be about a tornado outbreak. If this infobox only covers the outbreak itself, please use the |duration= parameter from the infobox header or from another ‘History’ box instead. and the “Clarify” template reason parameter reason=The weather bureau says 40 died, which is quite different from the 5 deaths in Grazulis’s book, and those 5 can’t be added to the AP’s two without [[WP:SYNTH]] since we can’t know if anyone was double counted. Those I could not resolve, but they should be addressed before any attempt at a featured article nomination is made. Dhtwiki (talk) 23:42, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I’ve placed the request for the above article on hold because I’ve moved it to draftspace; I suggest we decline the request until it’s suitable for mainspace. The requested had submitted it for review, which was declined, and moved it back to mainspace anyway. See its history for more; and the request is here (diff).
