- Delete Per WP:CRYSTALBALL. Seems like there should be some speedy deletion criteria for pages like this. When someone comes back to actually add a page for the 2040 olympics I’m guessing they’re not going to look for “TBD 2040” Anonrfjwhuikdzz (talk) 16:54, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
- Delete: There is literally no topic that could have this article title that doesn’t fail WP:BALL and/or WP:TOOSOON. The minimal content currently at this title would always be most properly at an article titled 2040 Summer Olympics when the time comes (articles on Olympics are not titled on Wikipedia with their host cities, if that was what the creator was thinking of)… and the time still hasn’t come. I don’t think this falls under any speedy criteria (even if in a perfect world there should be a criterion for things like this), but I can see this not needing the full week either. - I should note that even if this article was titled properly (and based on how the creator linked it from Bids for the 2036 Summer Olympics, this was definitely intended to only ever be an Olympic article from the start), this is not be the first nomination for the 2040 Olympics (and that first nomination was all the way in 2006!). Much has changed about Wikipedia and its inclusion standards in 19 years… but the invalid nature of a 2040 Summer Olympics article has not, at least for a few more years.
