Zolo (music genre) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View log | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Wikipedia’s general notability guideline states: ‘A topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.’ There are extremely few reliable, independent sources on zolo; the majority of the information about the genre comes from a single GeoCities site which now exists only in archived form: [1]

Then there is another blog, which is once again a weak source that doesn’t demonstrate notability: [2]

I’ve found one reliable, independent article on the subject by the Italian online magazine OndaRock: [3] One article is hardly enough to justify a separate Wiki page. Echoedits67 (talk) 11:59, 6 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per nomination. There are too many pages like this on Wikipedia that essentially migrated from GeoCities. We should enforce our own policies and delete pages that don’t have significant coverage. Someone loved this radio show enough to write this article about their jargon. It’s fun to read about, but it doesn’t meet our criteria. Trumpetrep (talk) 01:15, 8 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect. I didn’t make the article it was initially a short redirect to New wave of new wave since I had no clue where to place it. But Echoedits67 re-wrote it with more “accurate” sourcing. The thing is the sourcing was not notable given its geocities and not a reliable source. Zolo outside of that OndaRock source has never been mentioned by reputable publications. However, the genre is discussed in this book: https://www.google.co.uk/books/edition/1_000_Unnecessary_Fun_Facts_and_Trivia_A/Jd6aEQAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=%22zolo%22+%22new+wave%22&pg=PA90&printsec=frontcover
It is possible using this as a source a redirect to New wave music could be done. Sharkie is a self-published / primary source that can’t be cited on Wikipedia so it should not be on the Art rock page even if he was the one who coined the genre and defined it. That book is self-published, and its most likely source was this page. It’s the old Wikipedia loop, where the site’s content is used in other sources, and then cited back on Wikipedia. Trumpetrep (talk) 05:34, 8 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Ah then the page should be deleted since there is no other source. Aradicus77 (talk) 06:25, 8 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
