Project page to request technical page moves
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like “You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:…” or “The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:…”
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article’s talk page.
- To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article’s talk page. Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the “discuss” button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.
Edit this section if you want to move a request between sections.
Uncontroversial technical requests
[edit]
Most requests should be placed below this heading.
- Disney’s Animation Weekdays → Disney’s One TooDisney’s One Too (currently a redirect back to Disney’s Animation Weekdays) (move · discuss) – Per COMMONNAME. JHD0919 (talk) 14:50, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- There was a histmerge so finding the move history for this has been a bit tricky. Just pinging @RedRobocon06 who performed the cut & paste move to check whether they might agree – otherwise a discussion might be ideal for this one. ASUKITE 17:37, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
- Los Angeles Kickers → Los Angeles SCLos Angeles SC (currently a redirect back to Los Angeles Kickers) (move · discuss) – Back in 2022, a redirect to United Women’s Soccer was created, instead of the Los Angeles Kickers article being properly updated with its current name, and linked to United Women’s Soccer and other such articles. I’m hoping this can be easily rectified. — AFC Vixen 🦊 03:17, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- Magnus Eriksson (footballer, born 1990) → Magnus Eriksson (footballer)Magnus Eriksson (footballer) (currently a redirect instead to Magnus Eriksson (disambiguation)) (move · discuss) – The other Magnus Eriksson (footballer) article, Magnus Eriksson (1990s footballer), was deleted in October 2025. Contested technical requests
[edit]
Do not insert new requests in this section. Only move requests here if they have been contested.
- Template:Sovereign states of Europe → Template:Countries of EuropeTemplate:Countries of Europe (currently a redirect back to Template:Sovereign states of Europe) (move · discuss) – Consistency (WP:TITLECON), credits to PK2 for pointing out a similar issue with the Oceania template. All the other continental templates just say Countries, but for Oceania which is subject to PK2‘s move request for a similar reason. It would seem oddly paternalistic if only Europe has sovereign States, and the other continents just have countries. Ilvekset (talk) 20:54, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- I have no opinion on the name of the template, which has retained its page name since Amakuru undid it move back in 2015, citing an even older 2010 RM discussion. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 02:15, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- It seems that the main headline displayed by the template named “Countries of Europe” is “Countries and dependencies of Europe”. I suppose template names are not visible to readers. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:36, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping and yes, I’ll contest this one. The 2010 RM discussion had a strong consensus to use “Sovereign states” rather than the less clear “Countries”, and this matches the titling on our articles across the project such as List of sovereign states and List of sovereign states and dependent territories in Europe. My suggestion is we standardise on using “sovereign states” for all such templates, to match the titles of the related articles, and avoid the persistent clamouring for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to be listed alongside sovereign states since they’re all countries. — Amakuru (talk) 11:45, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- Draft:Christmas Day in the Morning (Tabernacle Choir album) → Christmas Day in the Morning (Tabernacle Choir album)Christmas Day in the Morning (Tabernacle Choir album) (currently a redirect instead to Tabernacle Choir Christmas discography) (move · discuss) – The draft is complete; would like to publish the article and remove the redirect on the existing article. Hooky6 (talk) 23:34, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- If you can find no significant coverage from multiple secondary sources independent from the subject that have a reputation for fact-checking, then no amount of editing will help, and I suggest trying to improve the existing discography page, which has been tagged for insufficient sourcing for years. I’ve restored the two decline notices, as they should remain. No significant changes since last decline. Article itself was redirected in 2021 per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christmas Day in the Morning (Tabernacle Choir album). Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 02:14, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
- I have multiple secondary sources cited in the article; additionally, the “review” process that the article was put through was a mistake as I did not actually require a review to publish an article, hence why I removed the review template from the draft. Hooky6 (talk) 19:30, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
- You do require a review, and if it is moved to mainspace it will come in the form of a new page review as you are not autopatrolled. That said, I do agree that it doesn’t meet WP:NALBUM and the sources aren’t sufficient – some are of questionable reliability and one is a press release. The reliable sources are mainly relating to the concert, not the album itself. Z E T A3 20:06, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
- Why do I “require” a review process? The option to publish directly came up on the draft when I created it. As a regular member, I am allowed to create new articles. Hooky6 (talk) 04:19, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

- You have not established that there is consensus to ignore the 2021 discussion and recreate the article. Several of those who said so under your 27 October query at the AfC helpdesk are no strangers to deletion discussions, where the fate of recreations are determined. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 07:24, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Rotideypoc41352: on a procedural note, the editor Hooky6 is correct in saying that they’re entitled to create this article – they’re an autoconfirmed editor and they’re permitted to create pages; ordinarily we should simply grant the request made here. The AFC process is not mandatory and there’s no WP:G4 angle or consensus required to recreate, since the new page is not the same as the one deleted. The new pages patrol could later decide to draftify the newly-created page, but even then it can be undraftified again and that would be that. Ultimately, Hooky6 is entitled to their “day in court” on this one via a full AFD discussion if they so wish. That being said, I think @Hooky6 it would be sensible to follow the advice given here and at the draft page, the content and sourcing does seem to be almost entirely about the concert rather than the album which resulted from it, and it would be unlikely to survive AFD in its current form. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 12:09, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

- Hezbe Wahdat → Islamic Unity Party of AfghanistanIslamic Unity Party of Afghanistan (currently a redirect back to Hezbe Wahdat) (move · discuss) – The spelling “Hezbe Wahdat” is inaccurate, since that’s not how Dari Romanization works, there too exists other English titles of Afghan political parties like “National Islamic Party of Afghanistan” instead of “Junbish-i Milli”. - @JHD0919 Given the move history, i suggest opening a discussion to firm up the consensus first. – robertsky (talk) 10:09, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- Template:Countries and territories of Oceania → Template:Countries of OceaniaTemplate:Countries of Oceania (currently a redirect back to Template:Countries and territories of Oceania) (move · discuss) – That’s because the other continent’s countries or sovereign states navbox templates don’t include the words ‘dependencies’ or ‘(dependent) territories’ in their titles. PK2 (talk; contributions) 07:06, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- But this template clearly does include places that aren’t sovereign states – see the section of “Dependencies and other territories”, for example. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:32, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- The other continent’s countries or sovereign states navbox templates also include “Dependencies” or “(Dependent) terriories” sections. PK2 (talk; contributions) 06:20, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- My preference would be to rename this to Template:Sovereign states of Oceania. This matches the overall format of the List of sovereign states article and is much preferable to the less rigorously defined “countries” term. I’m not too fussed on whether “and territories” should be included, but would lean towards not including it per other such categories, even if it does happen to put the dependencies in as well. — Amakuru (talk) 11:48, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- The related template for that list is Template:Lists of sovereign states and dependent territories by continent, the related article for the template in question being List of sovereign states and dependent territories in Oceania. Examples of other templates within the same framework: Template:Countries of South America (titled: “Countries and dependencies of South America”), Template:Countries of North America (titled: “Countries and dependencies of North America”), Template:Sovereign states of Europe (titled: “Sovereign states and dependencies of Europe”), Template:Countries of Asia (titled “Countries and dependencies of Asia”), and Template:Countries of Africa (titled: “Countries and dependencies of Asia”). So there is certainly some leeway for a variety of different names and titles here, whether it be “Countries of” (like most of them) or “Sovereign states of” (like Europe). Probably worth an RM for that reason. CNC (talk) 12:19, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
