This course introduces students to some of the key thinkers, writers, and activists relating to Afro-Brazilian identity and heritage. They will read literary and theoretical texts produced from 1700–present and will research specific figures and present on them. On Wikipedia, they will be editing articles and adding sources, and translating from Portuguese into English for articles that are underdeveloped or nonexistent in English.
