This four-unit course is designed to deepen content knowledge for future history teachers. We will explore U.S. and World History through historiography, standards-based instruction, and classroom-ready design strategies.
Secondary history/social science teachers are credentialed to teach from 6th to 12th grade, and we’ll focus on the history content in grades 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11. Students will choose an article that is related to a California History State Standard for grades 6-11, currently at a Stub, Start, or C-class rating, and make revisions to improve it using secondary sources they read in one of their previous history classes.
