Survey of the visual arts of Africa in the modern and contemporary periods. Course is divided into chronological units beginning with the multiple modernisms that emerged during the twentieth century and moving into the contemporary period.

Students will select artists, movements, and artists’ groups/collectives from the class content and will research, edit content, add citations, and enrich the wikipedia page for their selected movement, individual, or group/collective. Peer collaboration and editing will be encouraged.
