Requests for assessment
[edit]
Editors can self-assess articles against the five B-class criteria(FAQ) up to and including C-Class. If you have made significant improvements to an article against one or more of B-class criteria and would like an outside opinion on a new rating for it, please feel free to list it below, specifying which criteria you have worked on. If you feel unable to assess against one or more of the B-class criteria, please say so when posting. Requests for formal A-Class review should be made at the review department. Please consider entering articles you have improved in the military history article writing contest.
Experienced assessors are encouraged to take a look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history/Coordinators#AutoCheck report for October and check a few of ≈ B-Class assessments. Feel free to downgrade them if you consider they don’t meet one or more the criteria. Please also delete any that you have checked. See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Spaceflight/Assessment, whose articles often overlap with military history topics.
ADD NEW REQUESTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS SECTION AND BEFORE THE LINE FOR THE BACKLOG CHECK REQUEST

- Ultra Fast Attack Craft – Adding up more citations/information and a table to show the UFACs in Sri Lanka and Maldives. Finishing it up, hopefully soon. Ominae (talk) 08:05, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- So first up, Series IV is an empty header, then the Sri Lankan service is very sparse considering the number of boats and how they are described as being workhorses against the LTTE. There isnt a wikilink to the civil war, there probably should be.
- So I would say its referenced fine but is missing a little bit for coverage. Il assess as C class and leave this open if you want. LeChatiliers Pupper (talk) 12:21, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- oh and the Epicos 2016 – Special focus Sri Lanka should probably indicate authorship in the citation within the reference section. LeChatiliers Pupper (talk) 12:23, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- The first and last parts of what you mentioned are done. TBH, for the Sri Lankan service, it’s a bit sparse considering the info provided by Sri Lankan media (eg they don’t always mention the hull names). Otherwise, I’ll see if the “Sri Lankan service” can be expanded on. I’m doing the ship’s chart as I still needed to put more references, though I’m beat and I’ll continue tomorrow. Ominae (talk) 14:19, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- take your time dont get burnt out, this can stay open or be resubmitted any time! LeChatiliers Pupper (talk) 11:22, 27 November 2025 (UTC)

- It’s currently at a C-class; what I think it’s missing for B-class is: references in the table for Series III and IV (if it’s the same ref as used for Series I/II, just add it for the first entry of each class); and the specs that are currently listed in the infobox are not contained in the article body, and should per MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE. I recognize that most other similar patrol-boat articles also do not include this information in the article body and rely on it being in the infobox, but that is reflective of a systemic problem with those articles and not to my knowledge supported by a consensus exemption to the MOS policy. Other than that, it’s close. ⇒SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 01:17, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
- Someone can check if it’s fine (for now). Pretty challenging to find “more” stuff on the Series IV (and perhaps III). Ominae (talk) 14:54, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
Bernat de Rocafort— 14th-century mercenary commander, please assess for B Class, thank you.-Aeengath (talk) 13:55, 27 November 2025 (UTC)Siege of Urbinus– Overhauled with B2 & B5 issues. Please assess for B-class. Comments are always welcomed. A.Cython (talk) 16:17, 27 November 2025 (UTC)- Not assessing but just a comment the graphics are being used in different articles of the war in a repeated fashion – i think this is fine but in the case of the map in this article it doesnt show Urbinum. A map showing Urbinum would be a lot better
- Perhaps some variety could be had, I would recommend giving, google/bing image search (with creative commons on) and also a wikimedia search to see what you can turn up – similarly for the commanders portraits.
- Eg in the battle near Vesuvius (previous article) you might want to show a throwing spear type thing, as that I recall was quite important.
- Eg there is a woodcut of Belisarius, here that is public domain.
- Byzantine Military: Byzantium Invades The Kingdom of Italy – The Gothic War Begins
- Some reenactors perhaps apparently CC from google! LeChatiliers Pupper (talk) 18:08, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- Many thanks for your keen observations, let me see what I can do about it. Usually I have trouble finding good figures that do not violate copyright.A.Cython (talk) 18:17, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- @LeChatiliers Pupper I think I managed to diversify the figures in the article (Siege of Urbinus). I will see what I can do to the other articles as well. A.Cython (talk) 18:49, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- the photo from the kite looks really good, something else I noticed not that it stops the it being B class
- but you use Mediolanum in some images but Milian in the text, consistency across articles in the gothic wars would be ideal
- Also some of the grammar mistakes are often repeated, have you tried Grammarly or looking at the edit summary it might help you identify some errors yourself more easily. LeChatiliers Pupper (talk) 12:20, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the assessment. I will be more careful with the grammar next time, I was a little overexcited with the construction of the narrative. As for Milan and Mediolanum, I was conflicted but it is something that needs to be addressed in the future if the article to be pushed for GA. The problem is that I rely on figures made by others at Wiki Commons while the text sources that I used mention “Milan.” At this stage is it is good enough, but consistency is needed, I agree.A.Cython (talk) 14:58, 29 November 2025 (UTC)

Paul W. ThompsonAmerican general. Wounded on Omaha Beach on D-Day. Was a stub, think it should be B-class now. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 02:08, 28 November 2025 (UTC)- B class. Thanks. Donner60 (talk) 07:08, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
Confederate States Secretary of State– improved B1 and B2 criteria. Please assess. Thanks! Dofftoubab (talk) 04:16, 29 November 2025 (UTC)- I am not reviewing but I noticed that the reference 2 “United States Department of State 1976, p. 187” produces a “Harv error” because lacks a source target. This should be fixed. A.Cython (talk) 04:20, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out! Fixed it! Dofftoubab (talk) 04:31, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
- No problem, good luck with the assessment 🙂 A.Cython (talk) 04:35, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Dofftoubab: Assessed B class. I think there is just enough military duties and involvement with military matter for an article about this Confederate Department to be included as a military history project topic. Thanks. Donner60 (talk) 06:37, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
- Appreciate it! Only came across this article since it was listed under the November project. Dofftoubab (talk) 02:42, 30 November 2025 (UTC)

Louis-Auguste-Victor,_Count_de_Ghaisnes_de_BourmontA French aristocrat with a lot of cloak-and-dagger involvement in the Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars. LeChatiliers Pupper (talk) 11:46, 30 November 2025 (UTC)- Meets all five MILHIST B-class criteria. –Aeengath (talk) 18:52, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
- Type IX submarine Please assess for B class Klutserke (talk) 13:46, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
- Still a C class. Needs a couple of paragraphs on the boats’ activities Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 15:09, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
- If sources discuss it possibly also what different nations thought of the type, both in German service and post war. LeChatiliers Pupper (talk) 15:32, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
