81st season of top-tier football league in Norway
Football league season
The 2025 Eliteserien is the ongoing 81st season of top-tier football in Norway. This is the ninth season of Eliteserien after rebranding from Tippeligaen.
The season started on 29 March 2025 and is scheduled to end on 30 November 2025, not including play-off matches.[2]
Bodø/Glimt are the defending champions. Vålerenga and Bryne joined as the promoted clubs from the 2024 Norwegian First Division. They replaced Lillestrøm and Odd, who were relegated to the 2025 Norwegian First Division.
Sixteen teams compete in the league – the top fourteen teams from the previous season and two teams promoted from the First Division. The promoted teams are Vålerenga and Bryne, who were promoted after respectively 1 and 21 seasons absent. They replaced Lillestrøm and Odd, ending their top flight spells of 4 and 16 years respectively.
