Shrimant Jha (born 14 June 1992) is an Indian para-arm wrestler from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. He has represented India at multiple international para-arm wrestling championships and has earned medals at the Asian and World Para Armwrestling Championships. Jha is considered one of India’s consistent performers in para-arm wrestling and has competed internationally in the left-hand category throughout his career.[1]
Early life and education
Shrimant Jha was born on 14 June 1992 in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh to Sadashiv Jha and Manorama Jha. He has a twin brother and an elder sister. Jha was born with a congenital disability, having only two fingers on his left hand. Despite his physical challenges, he studied in an English-medium school. His family supported his education and early interest in sports, which shaped his long-term dedication to para-arm wrestling.
Career
Jha began training in para-arm wrestling in 2012 after being unable to participate in mainstream school sports due to his disability. He made his international debut in the 2016 Para Armwrestling World Championship in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, finishing sixth in the left-hand category.
In 2017, he won a bronze medal at the World Para Armwrestling Championship held in Budapest, Hungary.[2]
In 2018, he secured bronze medals at both the Asian Para Armwrestling Championship in Kazakhstan and the World Championship in Antalya, Turkey.
In 2022, Jha secured a medal at the XXI World Para Armwrestling Championship in Antalya, Turkey.[3]
In 2023, he earned a bronze medal at the XXV World Para Armwrestling Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan.[4]
In 2024, he represented India at the XXVI World Para Armwrestling Championship in Chisinau, Moldova, followed by participation in the XXVII World Championship in Albena, Bulgaria in 2025.
