Abdullah Zar-baqsh was born in Qom, Persia, into a family of profound historical significance. He belonged to the Rizvi family, a distinguished lineage tracing its descent to the Prophet Muhammad through his daughter, Fatimah, and her husband, Ali, standing as the fourteenth generation from the Prophet. His father was Yaqoob, and his grandfather, Ahmad (924–969 AD), held the respected position of naqib (official investigator) in Qom.
Driven by a quest for new horizons, Zar-baqsh embarked on a journey that led him to the subcontinent. In the year 462 Hijri (1070 AD), he successfully established a Musalman military colony. This settlement was a deliberate effort to create a secure and organized community. That same year brought him immense personal joy with the birth of his only son, Zaid.
To immortalize his son and the founding of the new settlement, Abdullah Zar-baqsh proudly named the area Zaidpur. His legacy is defined by this act of foundation, transplanting his noble heritage and military discipline to establish a lasting community in a new land.
