Brazilians Against Time (BrAT) is speedrun marathon created by the brazilian speedrunner Hugo “Hugo4fun” Carvalho.[1][2][3] founded in 2016,[4] the organization realized diverses donations campaigns for institutions like Médico Sem Fronteiras, APAE-SP (atual Instituto João Clemente) and AACD.[5] The organization was created inspired by the American event Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) and is the first game marathon of its kind in Brazil.[6][7][8]
In 2018, the marathon held its fourth edition inBrasil Game Show and received support from the professional CS:GO player FalleN.[9] Up to the 2022 editions, Brazilians against Time raised a total of 139,000 reais for charitable institutions.[10]
The first edition of BRAT was organized by Hugo Carvalho, who had participated in the Awesome Games Done Quick event since 2013, in 2016. On the São Paulo city.[4] According to Carvalho, his event had difficulties working with charitable organizations at the beginning, but managed to garner more support after reaching the donation limit in a campaign for AACD.[5]
In 2018, the marathon raised the sum of its revenues from 2016 and 2017, totaling 26,000 reais.[11][12] During the event, the organizers carried out the “save or kill the animals” incentive, a common practice of the American AGDQ.[11] gained 19 mil reais for the APAE in 2019[13] and counted until 2022, The organization had donated a total of 32,000 reais to Médicos Sem Fronteiras.[10]
