Early life and high school

[edit]

Smith attended high school at Olentangy Liberty located in Powell, Ohio. Coming out of high school, he was rated as a four-star recruit and the 207th overall prospect in the class of 2022, where he committed to play college football for the Indiana Hoosiers.[1]

During his first collegiate season in 2022, Smith used the season to redshirt after playing in two games.[2] During the 2023 season, he took over as a starter, making all 12 starts at left tackle.[3] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Smith was rumored to enter the NCAA transfer portal but returned to the Hoosiers.[4] During the 2024 season, he started all 13 games at left tackle, where for his performance he earned honorable mention all Big Ten honors.[5][6] Smith entered the 2025 season as one of the Hoosiers to players, and a high NFL draft prospect.[7][8]
