Damian McCarthy (born January 1981) is an Irish film director and screenwriter.[2][3][4][5] He is best known for his low-budget psychological horror feature films Caveat (2020)[6] and Oddity (2024).[7]
McCarthy is from West Cork, Ireland. His interest in horror films emerged from a video rental shop his father owned in the 1980s and 90s. Prior to filmmaking, he worked as an electrician. He received his breakthrough for his second feature film Oddity (2024), which was successful critically and commercially in the United States. It won an Audience Award at South by Southwest.[8]
