The 2004 Indian general election was held in Tripura to elect 2 members of the 14th Lok Sabha. The contest was between CPI(M) and the INC, in which CPI(M) won both Tripura West and Tripura East.

The BJP contested the election with its ally, Trinamool Congress, with each party contesting one seat as part of the NDA alliance.

This was during the peak period for CPI(M), when it secured 43 seats nationally, including these two. At that time, CPI(M) and the Left Front were providing external support to the UPA-I government, which they later withdrew in 2008.

The main political parties in Tripura are Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) and Indian National Congress (INC).

Congress and the BJP received 14% and 8% of the state-wide vote, respectively, and won no seats.
