Alessia Crippa (born June 26, 2000) is an Italian skeletonist, and former alpine skier, enlisted in the Italian Air Force Sports Center.

Before becoming an skeletonist she competed as an alpine skier and sprinter, she transitioned to skeleton as a teenager. Enlisted part of the Air Force made her international debut in 2016 on the European Cup circuit. Apart of the Italian Air Force Sports Center , a sports division, apart of the Italian Military Sports Corps, in the Italian Air Force. As an Italian skeleton racer who has represented Italy across the European Cup, Intercontinental Cup, and World Cup circuits, steadily rising through the national development system after debuting internationally in 2016. She has earned medals at the Junior European Championships and collected multiple podium finishes at the Italian National Championships, confirming her status as one of Italy’s most consistent performers in the sport. Over the seasons she has progressed from junior‑level success to major international events, culminating in appearances at the 2025 World Championships, where she placed 19th in the individual race and 7th in the team event, marking her strongest global results to date.

Early life and education

Alessia Crippa was born on 26 June 2000 in Domodossola, in the Piedmont region of northern Italy.[1]
She grew up in the nearby municipality of Crodo, where she was introduced to winter sports at a young age through local clubs.[2] She attended College del mezzofondo, a collaboration between the University of Insubria, the CUS Insubria, and the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL) for promising athletes in endurance running, and was enrolled in her third year of Scienze Motorie (Sports Science).[3]

Before taking up skeleton racing, Crippa practiced both alpine skiing and athletics. She competed in sprint events at youth level, recording a personal best of 13.38 seconds in the 100 metres in 2015.[4]
Her early training was supported by Sport Project VCO, a multisport club in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola area that facilitated her progression in athletics.[5]

Crippa later transitioned to skeleton racing as a teenager, combining her sprinting background with winter‑sport experience.[6]

2021 IBSF Championships

In 2020/21 she dedicated herself full-time to the World Cup, finishing the season in fifteenth place in the overall standings and placing twenty-second again at the world championships in Altenberg in the individual and ninth in the team; in the junior category, on the other hand, she finished seventh in the world championships in Sankt Moritz while she won the silver medal at the European junior championships in Innsbruck 2021.

The following year in the World Cup saw the conquest of only two placements in the top 20 out of six races held and a twenty-third place finish. Instead, he won a medal again at the European Junior Championships in Altenberg, winning bronze.

2024–2025

2025 IBSF World Championships

Crippa competed in both the 2023–24 and 2024–25 IBSF Skeleton World Cup seasons. During the 2023–24 season, she appeared in several international races, including events in Innsbruck, Altenberg, and Sigulda, recording mid‑field placements as she continued developing on the senior circuit.[10] Her season also included participation in the 2024 Junior World Championships, where she finished in the second half of the field.[10]

Entering the 2024–25 season, Crippa achieved one of her strongest early‑season results with a 13th‑place finish in Yanqing, the track used for the 2022 Winter Olympics.[11]

She continued her season at the St. Moritz World Cup on 10 January 2025, where she placed eighth, marking her best World Cup finish of the winter.[9]

In February, Crippa competed in Lillehammer, finishing 25th in the IBSF World Cup race and 16th in the European Championships held the same day. She also completed several official training runs earlier that week.[9]

Crippa concluded her season at the 2025 IBSF World Championships in Lake Placid, placing 19th in the women’s individual event and contributing to Italy’s seventh‑place finish in the mixed team competition. She also participated in training sessions from 2–4 March ahead of the championships.[9][11]
